PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mac Munsod (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Fitch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Trevor Gratis and Alec Ball.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fitch dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Munsod. That did some damage!

Munsod gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Fitch breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Fitch lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Fitch tries to close the distance and clinch but Munsod swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Munsod fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Fitch drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Fitch tries to get to his feet but Munsod is in the middle of advancing position himself and ends up with Fitch in his guard.
Fitch tries to stand but Munsod is controlling from the bottom.

Fitch looking to sit in guard and control but Munsod gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Munsod is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Fitch is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Fitch has escaped and now he's on top!
Fitch wanted to stand there but Munsod had control of the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Munsod is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Fitch stands and steps away. Munsod gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Fitch moves in looking to clinch but Munsod pushes him off.

Munsod shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Fitch's guard.

Munsod drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Munsod jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Fitch forces Munsod back against the cage and clinches.

Fitch using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Munsod has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Fitch escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Munsod has his takedown stuffed
and Fitch counters with a nice body kick.
Fitch wants to clinch up but Munsod keeps it at a distance.
Fitch shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Munsod pinned against the cage. Munsod gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Munsod closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Munsod prevents Fitch from improving his position.

Munsod seems to be working for a kimura but Fitch defends the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
