Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Trevor Woodie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Otto Karalexis! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Bruno Lombardi and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A head kick from Karalexis lands but Woodie takes it in his stride. Woodie shoots in for a double leg but Karalexis sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Karalexis bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Woodie fails with a takedown attempt. Woodie avoids the head kick by Karalexis.
Woodie throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Woodie tries to close the distance and clinch but Karalexis swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Nice sprawl there from Karalexis as Woodie shoots in. Woodie shoots in and bounces Karalexis off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Woodie throwing strikes but missing. Woodie postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Karalexis can do anything to dispel that myth. Woodie wants to stand but Karalexis is controlling his posture from full guard. Woodie drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Woodie jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Karalexis managing to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Woodie thows a big elbow that misses. Karalexis pulls Woodie in close to prevent any damage. Woodie throwing strikes but missing.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Woodie fails with a takedown attempt. Karalexis misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Woodie fails in his attempt to clinch. Karalexis lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Woodie throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Karalexis pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Woodie tries to clinch but Karalexis moves out of range. Woodie on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Karalexis. Karalexis obviously looking to wear him down.
Otto Karalexis is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Karalexis moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

Woodie closes this distance looking for a takedown but Karalexis circles away. Karalexis lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Woodie tries to clinch up. Woodie avoids a punch combination nicely.

Karalexis lands a front kick. Karalexis thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Woodie if he has to take too many more of those.
Woodie closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Karalexis chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Karalexis bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Woodie's head. Woodie fails in his attempt to clinch. Karalexis fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Woodie. Woodie ducks under a wild hook from Karalexis. Karalexis stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Karalexis wants it to stay on the feet. Karalexis fakes the leg kick and cracks Woodie in the body. Karalexis looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. The fight stays on the outside here - Woodie looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Woodie wants to clinch up but Karalexis keeps it at a distance. Karalexis wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Karalexis swats away the attempt to clinch by Woodie. Karalexis throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Karalexis keeps the fight on the outside. Woodie fails in his attempt to clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Karalexis tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Karalexis scores with a kick to the body.

Karalexis manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Karalexis tries a head kick but it misses.
Woodie takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Jab, jab by Karalexis - just one landing. Karalexis is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Woodie. The fight moves into the clinch position. The referee is keeping an eye on Karalexis - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Woodie tries to score a body lock takedown but Karalexis shows good agility there to stay on his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Trevor Woodie. That's going to take a lot out of him. Woodie is trying to maintain a safe position but Karalexis gets an underhook and turns Woodie into the cage. Woodie drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Karalexis tries to break the clinch but Woodie is controlling the position. Woodie has Karalexis pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Karalexis manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Karalexis working hard to break the clinch. Woodie dives in and grabs Karalexis's left leg, looking for a takedown. Karalexis pushes down on Woodie's head and hops out. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Karalexis misses with a straight left. Karalexis stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Karalexis wants it to stay on the feet. Otto Karalexis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Woodie's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Karalexis pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Woodie tumbling to the mat - Karalexis dives into Woodie's guard. Woodie has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Woodie is controlling Karalexis's posture. Karalexis wants to control from the top but Woodie keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Woodie wants to sweep here but Karalexis controlling him for the moment. Karalexis has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Woodie is proving hard to escape from. Karalexis trying to control the position from guard on top but Woodie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Karalexis would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Karalexis takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Karalexis trying to control the position from guard on top but Woodie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Karalexis plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Karalexis is looking to slow Woodie down with leg kicks. Woodie closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Karalexis has had enough of the clinch but Woodie keeps him there for the moment. Woodie lands a body punch in the clinch. Knees to the body from Woodie.
Karalexis changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Woodie fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Woodie closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Karalexis did well to prevent Woodie getting side control. Woodie sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Karalexis defending well though. Woodie seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Karalexis does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Karalexis won't allow Woodie to pass to mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Woodie uses his free foot to push down on Karalexis's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Karalexis. Poor strikes thrown by Woodie there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Woodie is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Karalexis is in real trouble.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Woodie looking for the choke but no joy. Trevor Woodie has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Woodie working for the choke. Karalexis is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Woodie gets his way!
And that's the end of the fight! Trevor Woodie showed his dominance in that final round. I think Karalexis has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
