Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Luis Engracia and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mata shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says silva as he avoids it easily.
silva changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mata tries to avoid it but silva manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mata to the ground. Mata escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Mata fails with a takedown attempt.
Mata shoots in for a double leg but silva sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Luigi Mata. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mata doesn't manage to clinch there - silva circles away.

Mata knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for silva on the ground.
silva is looking to get to half guard.
silva tries to lock up and control but Mata gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
silva sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

silva is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
silva manages to get to full guard.
silva wants to stand but Mata is controlling the position.
silva pulls Mata in close to his closed guard and prevents Mata from doing any damage or advancing position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
silva is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Mata is controlling him.

silva might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Mata kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

silva looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

silva wants to control the pace but Mata is squirming around nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Despite being in the dominant position, anderson silva just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
silva takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Mata tries to hold on but silva postures up.
Mata is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because silva is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

silva looking to control but Mata is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

anderson silva showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

and Mata counters with a three punch combo that has silva backing up. silva nods at Mata to acknowledge the strikes.
silva tries to close the distance and clinch but Mata swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
silva shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
silva wants to control from the top but Mata keeps moving.
silva wants to stand but Mata has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

silva is keen to just control but Mata is a slippery customer.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
silva ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Luigi Mata is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
silva uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Mata has time to react.

silva fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Mata moves into the clinch successfully.
Mata jumps guard but silva stands there with Mata around his waist. Mata gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

silva is trying to trip Mata. He has hold of a leg but Mata is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. silva persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Mata is pulling down on silva's head to control his posture.
Mata wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and silva manages to pass to side control.
Mata tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Mata is trying to control silva's posture but silva avoids it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
silva controls the action.
I really don't envy Mata right now.
silva is not going to allow Mata to sit and survive in this position.
Mata staying busy and making it hard for silva to control.
