The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomez looks to score with a jab to the body but Mattos is just out of range.
Gomez ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mattos moves away.
Gomez is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Mattos.

Mattos shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gomez pinned against the cage. Gomez gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Mattos changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gomez tries to avoid it but Mattos manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gomez to the ground. Gomez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Mattos is breathing heavily.
Gomez stalks Mattos and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Mattos's face. Mattos staggers backwards, shaken.
Mattos drops his hands momentarily and Gomez takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Mattos is rocked!
Mattos slips a jab and a cross from Gomez.
Oh Mattos is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Gomez scores with a decent looking hook.
Gomez jabs Mattos right on the nose. Mattos blinks but takes it well.
Gomez looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Mattos uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Gomez.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mattos.
Mattos seems to have got his legs back now.
Gomez lands a jab to Mattos's midsection.
Gomez lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Gomez lands a big uppercut and Mattos crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Mattos looks OK. Gomez waves Mattos back to his feet!
Gomez throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Mattos avoids a punch combination nicely.
Mattos is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Mattos. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Gomez lands with an overhand left.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gomez is throwing a storm of strikes! Right hook, left hook and follows it up with a spinning back fist! Mattos hits the canvas like a rag doll! And just like that, this one is over!
