Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Daryl Abbott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Layen Pray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Daryl Abbott has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Daryl Abbott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Layen Pray!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abbott fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Pray avoids it really well and circles away.

Abbott fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Pray sprawls well initially but Abbott persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Pray gets full guard.
Pray is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Pray controls Abbott momentarily but Abbott frees himself.
Abbott tries to stand but Pray is controlling from the bottom.

Abbott is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Pray keeping moving, preventing Abbott from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Abbott tries for a takedown but Pray sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Pray takes a head kick and shrugs it off.


It looks like Layen Pray has been cut.
Abbott misses with a double jab.
Abbott misses with a wild combination.
Abbott thumps Pray with a low kick.

Abbott tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Pray swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daryl Abbott. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Abbott is breathing heavily.
Abbott throws a sloppy head kick and Pray moves out of range easily.

Abbott is trying to control Pray's posture but Pray avoids it.

Pray really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Abbott. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pray slips a nice elbow through Abbott's hands, connecting with Abbott's forehead.

Abbott kicks Pray off and gets back to his feet.

Pray looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Pray connects with a nice short shot to Abbott's temple.
Abbott looks like he's trying to stand up.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Pray in particular looking to stall.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Pray avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Pray darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Abbott is looking to improve his position.

Pray seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Pray closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pray lands in his opponent's guard.

Pray slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Let's hope that Pray has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
