PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marco Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Meek Flanander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Meek Flanander was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marco Sanchez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Meek Flanander!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Daniel Franklin and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flanander looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Flanander scores with a takedown into Sanchez's guard.
Flanander pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Sanchez is keeping the position for now.
Flanander controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Flanander trying to control the position from guard on top but Sanchez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sanchez being controlled here, momentarily.
Flanander trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Sanchez is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Flanander is controlling him.
Flanander trying to control the position from guard on top but Sanchez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Flanander won't allow Sanchez to get back to his feet.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Flanander closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Flanander lands in his opponent's guard.
Flanander trying to control but Sanchez is working from the bottom.
Flanander stays in close to Sanchez's body and controls the position.
Flanander won't allow Sanchez to get back to his feet.
Flanander seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Flanander wants to control from the top but Sanchez keeps moving.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Flanander is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Flanander looks gassed!

Flanander drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Sanchez dives on top into guard.
Flanander is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Flanander looking for a triangle here. Sanchez is fighting it but it looks tight! Flanander pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Sanchez is tapping out - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:04 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Meek Flanander!
