Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rico Sanchez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steven Eleven! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Ian Loll and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sanchez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Sanchez wants to clinch up but Eleven keeps it at a distance. Sanchez staying out of range there. Eleven looks to throw the jab but Sanchez is out of range. Jab from Eleven. Eleven looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Sanchez wants to clinch up but Eleven keeps it at a distance. Sanchez ducks under a wild hook from Eleven. Sanchez slips under a jab from Eleven. Eleven drops Sanchez with a big left hand and mounts him. Sanchez is in big trouble! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sanchez can't escape the position.
Eleven takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sanchez tries to hold on but Eleven pushes him away. Eleven controlling the pace for now. Eleven trying to control but he's not successful this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Eleven content just to control the position here. Let's hope that Eleven has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Eleven can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Sanchez is looking to escape.
Despite being in the dominant position, Steven Eleven just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Eleven throws a hook but Sanchez blocks it. Sanchez blocks a jab. Sanchez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Eleven swats him away and circles back towards the center. Sanchez tries to clinch there but Eleven circles away.
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Eleven has cracked Sanchez with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Eleven lands another huge swinging hook and Sanchez tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Sanchez, before Eleven can land any more shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Steven Eleven!
