PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mason Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anderson comes to the cage accompanied by Simon Says. Jim Jackson struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 187.9lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Jim Jackson told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jim Jackson!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Tiny Johnson and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Anderson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Anderson looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Anderson is fighting to break Jackson's control of his arms but Jackson is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Anderson tries to free his leg and advance position but Jackson is retaining full guard.

and Anderson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Jackson's guard.

Anderson works his foot free and advances to mount.
Jackson is trying to escape the mount.
Anderson throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Anderson is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Jackson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Jackson has escaped and now he's on top!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Anderson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jackson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jackson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
