PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Monte Christo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Hammer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Christo comes to the cage accompanied by Masters apprentice - Opeth. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Monte Christo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Eric Hammer! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Sam Margolis and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Christo stalks Hammer and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Hammer's face. Hammer staggers backwards, shaken.
It looks like Eric Hammer has been cut. No luck for Hammer with that takedown attempt. Hammer fails with the takedown. Hammer shoots in for a takedown but Christo shows good takedown defense. Monte Christo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eric Hammer. Hammer closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hammer lands in his opponent's guard. Hammer postures up.
Hammer is looking to work some ground and pound but Christo has wrist control. Hammer throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Christo works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Hammer throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Hammer avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Christo clobbers Hammer with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hammer fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Christo stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Christo thuds his right hand into Hammer's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Christo throws a series of punches but Hammer avoids them all with ease. Christo scores with a punch to the head.
Hammer is rocked! Hammer shoots in looking for a takedown. Christo tries to sprawl out of it but Hammer keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Christo manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Hammer looks gassed! Hammer takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Hammer is still on wobbly legs! Can Christo finish him? Hammer will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Christo feints a kick and comes over the top with a right hand, followed by a left hook - both land, sending Hammer crashing to the mat! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Monte Christo!
