Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nickolay Katorjnov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Digger Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Katorjnov comes into the arena with Remember the name - Fort Minor blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nickolay Katorjnov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Digger Griffin! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Tiny Johnson and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Griffin tries to close the distance and clinch up but Katorjnov swats him away and circles back towards the center. Griffin shoots in but no luck this time. A choreographed right hand from Katorjnov misses the target. No luck for Griffin with that takedown attempt. Griffin keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Katorjnov. Katorjnov misses with an uppercut. Griffin saw that one coming. Katorjnov pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Katorjnov scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Horrible takedown by Griffin or perhaps it was just good defense by Katorjnov which made him look bad. Nickolay Katorjnov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Digger Griffin. Griffin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Katorjnov tries to avoid it but Griffin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Katorjnov to the ground. Katorjnov escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Katorjnov scores with a shot to the body.
Katorjnov will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Katorjnov throws a lazy right hand but Griffin sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Digger Griffin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Griffin shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Katorjnov pinned against the cage. Katorjnov gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Katorjnov bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Griffin looks gassed! Katorjnov lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Griffin misses with a lunging right hand
and Katorjnov counters with a nice low kick that buckles Griffin's knee momentarily. Griffin on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
It looks like Digger Griffin has been cut. Griffin takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Griffin is trying desperately to land a takedown but Katorjnov is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Griffin. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Katorjnov thuds his shin into the meat of Griffin's side. Katorjnov goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Katorjnov misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Katorjnov rushes Griffin and presses him up against the cage. Griffin breaks the clinch.
Griffin fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Griffin swings away with a body shot that misses
and Katorjnov counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Griffin misses with a combination
and Katorjnov counters with a nice right hand that sends Griffin toppling to the canvas! Griffin scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Katorjnov finish him?!
Griffin is rocked! Katorjnov changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Griffin walks straight into a right hand from Katorjnov - that's dropped him! Katorjnov jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Griffin from any more punishment! Griffin complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Nickolay Katorjnov!
