Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dan Svensson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gale Tempest! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Emerson Jorge and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice defenses there by Svensson. Svensson shoots in for a takedown but Tempest shows good takedown defense. Svensson doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Tempest throws a right and a left that both miss. Tempest misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Svensson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Tempest circles away. Svensson throws a lazy right hand but Tempest sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Svensson ducks under a wild hook from Tempest. A jab from Tempest does it's job there. Svensson walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Svensson is defended easily by Tempest. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dan Svensson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Tempest looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Svensson shoots for a takedown but Tempest saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tempest waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Svensson. Tempest looks to land a right hand but Svensson moved out of range. A combination from Tempest does no damage. Svensson shoots in for a takedown but Tempest shows good takedown defense. Tempest misses with a few strikes there.
Svensson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Tempest pinned against the cage. Tempest gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Svensson misses with a takedown attempt - Tempest sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Svensson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Svensson tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Svensson throws an elbow but Tempest slips to the side and avoids it well. Svensson working away. Svensson fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Tempest really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Svensson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Svensson working away. Svensson looks up at the clock and then as Tempest takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Svensson smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Svensson in side control, throwing shots but Tempest defends. Svensson decides to stand back up. Svensson steps back and let's Tempest get back to his feet. Tempest lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Tempest dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tempest fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Svensson fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Svensson just misses with a punch to the body.
Svensson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Tempest as he jumps to the side. Svensson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Tempest.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Tempest misses with a hook. Tempest fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Tempest misses with a two punch combination.
Svensson scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Tempest tries to roll over but Svensson keeps him under control. Tempest desperately trying to maintain half guard. Svensson wants to work for an arm triangle but Tempest is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tempest can do anything to dispel that myth. Tempest trying to control here.
Tempest controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Gale Tempest will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Tempest darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Svensson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Tempest as he avoids it easily. Svensson has a takedown stuffed. Svensson scores a takedown into full mount! Tempest in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Tempest tries to lock up and control but Svensson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Svensson misses with a head shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Tempest tries to hold on but Svensson pushes him away. Svensson looking to isolate an arm here. Tempest doesn't see it coming and as Svensson extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Svensson!
