Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ben Strange (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Skippy McGee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Skippy McGee has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ben Strange!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Skippy McGee!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Donatello Bradman and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Strange dives in and grabs McGee's left leg, looking for a takedown. McGee pushes down on Strange's head and hops out.

Strange closes the distance and clinches.

McGee's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

McGee closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Strange did well to prevent McGee getting side control.
Strange wants to control but McGee is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Strange is in trouble now - McGee has advanced to mount!
Strange is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
McGee with a couple of short strikes.
McGee has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Strange is desperately trying to improve his position but McGee has a good base and remains in mount.
McGee can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Strange is looking to escape.

McGee goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Strange is on top in guard.

Strange looking to sit in guard and control but McGee gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Strange has his foot on McGee's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McGee works his way back into a safe position though.

McGee avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Strange controls McGee momentarily but McGee frees himself.
McGee trying to control but Strange is working from the bottom.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
McGee postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Strange wants to sweep here but McGee controlling him for the moment.
McGee looking to pass the guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Strange with a poor takedown

and McGee counters with a single leg into guard. Strange didn't expect that.
McGee tries to stand but Strange is controlling from the bottom.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Strange wants to sweep but no luck.
Strange bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in McGee's guard.

McGee kicks Strange off and gets to his feet.

Strange has his takedown stuffed

so McGee counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ben Strange. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Strange had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. McGee defends it easily.
Strange is breathing heavily.
Strange is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Strange looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
McGee sitting in guard, not really doing much.
McGee won't allow Strange to sweep him here.

Strange has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. McGee is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Strange.

Strange might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

McGee stands up and beckons Strange to his feet.

McGee might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Strange kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Strange wants to control his opponent's hands but McGee gets his hands free.

Skippy McGee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Strange doesn't succeed with the takedown

and McGee counters with a single leg into guard. Strange didn't expect that.

McGee decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Strange, up you get!
McGee throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Strange tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but McGee presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
McGee trying to control but Strange is having none of it.

McGee tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

McGee takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
McGee avoids the attempt from Strange to control.
Strange is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Strange wants to hold on but McGee pushes him away.
McGee wants to control the pace but Strange is squirming around nicely.
Strange is wriggling around trying to escape.
Strange is working hard here to advance position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Strange reaches up and holds on to McGee to control the position.

McGee is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Strange clinches but McGee breaks the clinch

and McGee decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Strange's guard.
Strange not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Strange is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. McGee is aware though and is defending well.

McGee tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no McGee has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

and McGee holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Strange looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Strange avoiding damage as McGee throws knees to the body.
McGee prevents a takedown attempt there.
Strange creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through McGee's defenses.
Strange has McGee pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. McGee manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

McGee has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Strange uses from the top position.

Well McGee has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
