Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Brynrolf Fahnskhap! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Big Chis! The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Illya Tyunina and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fahnskhap moves out of range as Chis strikes. Chis looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Fahnskhap shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Chis defends it nicely. Chis fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Chis gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Fahnskhap counters with a nice uppercut.
It looks like Big Chis has been cut. Fahnskhap looks to throw the jab but Chis is out of range. Fahnskhap closes the distance and clinches. Fahnskhap gets control of Chis's arms and successfully pulls guard. Fahnskhap will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Chis is looking to advance position but Fahnskhap has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Fahnskhap jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Chis manages to avoid the submission attempt. Chis is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Fahnskhap asserts his dominance and retains side control. Fahnskhap wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Chis, who protects the arm well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fahnskhap throwing shots but missing, from side control. Chis is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Fahnskhap is controlling him well. Fahnskhap tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Fahnskhap has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Chis can do anything to dispel that myth. Fahnskhap has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Chis is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Fahnskhap yanks on the arm and Chis is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Fahnskhap.
