Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Selwoods (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thomas's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Muse - Knights of Cydonia. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mark Selwoods! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, John Roberts and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Selwoods scores with a takedown into Thomas's guard. Selwoods wants to control from the top but Thomas keeps moving. Selwoods looking to pass the guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Thomas is on top in guard.
Selwoods pulls Thomas in close to his closed guard and prevents Thomas from doing any damage or advancing position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Thomas wants to pass the guard but Selwoods is keeping the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Selwoods is trying to keep Thomas in close.
Selwoods uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Selwoods fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Thomas tries for a takedown but Selwoods circles away easily and Selwoods counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Selwoods.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Thomas tries to land a sweep but no joy. Selwoods trying to control the position from guard on top but Thomas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Selwoods pushing down on Thomas's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Selwoods is figuring out what he wants to do next. Thomas moves into full guard.
Selwoods wants to stand but Thomas is controlling his posture from full guard. Thomas really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thomas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Selwoods doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Selwoods manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Selwoods controls from within his opponent's guard. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Selwoods stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Thomas swivels though and keeps the full guard. Selwoods trying to control but Thomas is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Selwoods looks gassed! Selwoods slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Despite being in the dominant position, Mark Selwoods just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Selwoods fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Thomas sprawls well initially but Selwoods persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Selwoods with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Thomas misses with a takedown attempt - Selwoods sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Selwoods gets the takedown into side control. Selwoods throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Thomas works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure. Selwoods is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Selwoods wants to lay and pray for a moment but Thomas keeps working.
That's one minute gone in the round. Selwoods might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Thomas kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Selwoods is breathing heavily. Selwoods is figuring out what he wants to do next. Selwoods is just content to waste time from the top position. Thomas takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Selwoods is just holding on here. Thomas manages to take his back.
Thomas has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Thomas controlling well, preventing Selwoods from escaping the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Selwoods manages to reverse the position and now he's in Thomas's guard. Nice work there by Selwoods.

Selwoods circles away from the clinch attempt and Selwoods counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Selwoods wants to pass to mount but Thomas is defending the position. Selwoods is taking a breather. Thomas says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Selwoods is looking to take a break and control but Thomas is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Selwoods is trying to work for a kimura but Thomas is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Selwoods in particular looking to stall. Selwoods tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Thomas looking for submissions off his back. Thomas is trying to get back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Selwoods with a lazy takedown attempt and Thomas counters by moving into the clinch. Selwoods wants to get back to striking at distance but Thomas won't allow it.
Selwoods takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Selwoods just leaning against Thomas, taking a breather. Selwoods drops down looking for an ankle pick but Thomas pulls his leg out and moves away.
Selwoods looks to clinch so Thomas counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Selwoods is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Selwoods can't keep his opponent in guard - Thomas advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Selwoods throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Thomas manages to pass to side control. Thomas has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Selwoods is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Thomas yanks on the arm and Selwoods is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Thomas.
