Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Paul Pierce! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mike Louis! The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Nard Betker and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pierce decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Louis slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Louis striking off his back but it's not causing Pierce any problems. Pierce wants to control from the top but Louis keeps moving. Pierce got a little sloppy there for a moment and Louis has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pierce has managed to get both his arms back between Louis's legs - danger averted. Pierce trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Louis looking for a sweep. Not yet Louis, not yet. Louis is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Louis wants to stand up but Pierce is controlling him. Pierce showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Pierce trying to control the position from guard on top but Louis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round. Louis looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pierce is one step ahead there. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Louis wants to get back to his feet but Pierce is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Pierce scores with a hook to the body. Louis takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Louis looks gassed! Pierce feints and as Louis raises his hands in defense, Pierce changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Louis is adopting a defensive guard. Pierce gets to his feet - Louis follows without any prompting.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Louis chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Pierce can pounce on him.
Pierce goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Pierce darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Pierce trying to control the action but Louis is working from the bottom. Pierce takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Louis tries to roll over but Pierce keeps him under control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Louis is not content to let Pierce control the position. Pierce moves into full mount! Louis won't be happy about that! The referee warns Louis that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Louis tries to hold on but Pierce postures up. Louis is in all sorts of trouble here.
Pierce lands a big shot there that rocks Louis but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Louis is trying desperately to improve position. Pierce dominating with strikes here. BOOM! Pierce connects with a massive shot to the dome!
A nice elbow there by Pierce. Pierce trying to control but Louis is having none of it. Pierce is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Louis is surviving well by controlling Pierce's body position as best he can. Louis is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Pierce landing strikes from the mount and Louis is in trouble! Pierce controlling from the full mount. Pierce's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Louis is trying desperately to improve position.
That's six minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Pierce blocks Louis's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. Louis working to try and regain half guard.

Louis is desperately trying to improve his position but Pierce has a good base and remains in mount. Pierce with shots to the head and body - Louis looks very uncomfortable down there. Pierce goes for an armbar but Louis turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Louis. Pierce keeping moving, preventing Louis from controlling successfully. Pierce bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Louis's guard.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Louis wants to sweep but no luck. Pierce postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Louis throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Pierce slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Louis regains half guard. Pierce is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Pierce is looking to advance position but Louis won't allow it. Louis is trying to stand.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Louis is controlling Pierce's trapped leg to prevent Pierce from advancing to side control. Louis is trying to control but can't.
Pierce wants to lay and pray for a moment but Louis keeps working. Pierce passes the guard and advances to mount! Louis wants to control but Pierce is having none of it. Louis trying desperately to get to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Paul Pierce dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Pierce shoots in for a double leg but Louis sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Louis stuffs the takedown attempt from Pierce. Pierce gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Pierce. That's going to take a lot out of him. Louis misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Louis lands a head kick. Pierce smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Pierce closes the distance and clinches. Pierce is working on a single leg takedown against the ropes. Louis can't fight it off and eventually Pierce manages to take the fight to the floor. Louis looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Louis throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pierce wants to control from the top but Louis keeps moving. Pierce has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Louis keeping full guard, as Pierce tries to pass. Louis looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Louis pushes Pierce off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Louis shoots in but Pierce avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Pierce closes the distance looking to clinch and Louis counters with a nice double leg into side control. Pierce won't be happy with that. Pierce is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Pierce trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Pierce is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Pierce sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Louis wants to work for an arm triangle but Pierce is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Louis throwing shots but Pierce is blocking nicely. Louis missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Pierce regains full guard. Nicely done. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Louis accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Louis trying to stand up but can't free himself from Pierce's guard. Pierce wants to get back to his feet but Louis passes into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Pierce looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Louis puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Pierce is trying to maintain the position but Louis is very close to passing his half guard. Pierce is trying to get back to full guard. Louis not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Pierce is trying to stand up here but Louis is controlling him well. Louis frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Louis looking to control but Pierce is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Louis avoids the attempt from Pierce to control. Pierce is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control. Pierce working to try and regain half guard.
Paul Pierce overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Louis is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Pierce can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Louis is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Pierce to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Pierce shrugs it off. Pierce is desperately trying to improve his position but Louis has a good base and remains in mount. Louis get's back to his feet. Pierce fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Louis looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Pierce shoots for a double leg takedown but Louis sprawls well. He's pushed Pierce's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Pierce scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Mike Louis. I have no idea who won that fight. Let's wait and see whether the judges are as confused as me! Time for a split decision perhaps?!. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
