Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jack Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bill Compton!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Fedor Mirinova and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson throws a series of punches but Compton avoids them all with ease.
Johnson just misses with a punch to the body.
Compton tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Johnson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Compton tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Johnson slaps away a takedown attempt from Compton, before circling back to the center of the mat.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Johnson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

and Compton decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Johnson's guard.

Johnson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Compton can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Johnson has his foot on Compton's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Compton works his way back into a safe position though.
Compton really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Johnson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Compton controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Horrible takedown by Johnson or perhaps it was just good defense by Compton which made him look bad.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Compton can do anything to dispel that myth.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Johnson is fighting to break Compton's control of his arms but Compton is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Johnson is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Compton is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Johnson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Johnson wants it to stay on the feet.

Bill Compton showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Johnson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Compton shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Johnson as he avoids it easily.
