The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Richards ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Pearse slaps away a takedown attempt from Richards, before circling back to the center of the mat. Nice cross by Richards. Richards looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Pearse! Richards misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Richards is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Pearse can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Richards swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Pearse is now in Richards's guard. A big mistake from Richards there, giving up the dominant position! Richards looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
This has been an exciting period of action! Pearse avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Pearse has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Pearse got a little sloppy there for a moment and Richards has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pearse has managed to get both his arms back between Richards's legs - danger averted.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The fighters circling - Richards throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Pearse moves out of range of the strikes. Richards lands a body shot.
Pearse displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Pearse has managed to clinch.
Richards looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Richards takes a knee right on the jaw!
Pearse manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Pearse softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Pearse working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Pearse scores with an uppercut up the middle. Pearse lands a left hand that snaps the head of Richards backwards. Pearse lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Richards swings wildly with an uppercut but Pearse uses good head movement to avoid it. An uppercut to the body lands inside from Pearse. Pearse lands a body punch. Pearse makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Pearse lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pearse lands a nice shot to the body. Pearse will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Richards up against the cage. Pearse lands a nice elbow. Pearse lands a left hand.
Richards is rocked! Richards doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Pearse pushes Richards back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Pearse working some nice short punches in the clinch. Richards is still on wobbly legs! Can Pearse finish him? Pearse manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Pearse scores with a nice hook to the head. Pearse creates some distance for himselfand unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Richards's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Richards drops to his knees and Pearse pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
