Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Juan Lopez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, AJ Strey!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Dillan Fox and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lopez misses with an uppercut.
Strey looks to land a left hand but Lopez moved out of range nicely.
Lopez scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
It looks like AJ Strey has been cut.
Lopez misses with the combination.
Strey shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lopez as he avoids it easily.
Strey missing with a left hand there. Lopez was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Strey shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lopez sprawls well. Lopez wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Strey gets slowly back to his feet.
Lopez connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Lopez misses with a two punch combination.
Strey shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Juan Lopez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of AJ Strey.
Strey dodges the punch combination from Lopez.
Lopez slaps away a takedown attempt from Strey, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Strey will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Lopez tries to bum rush Strey with a series of wild strikes but Strey uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Strey misses with a takedown attempt - Lopez sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Lopez drops Strey with a beautiful combination! Strey stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Lopez is looking for the KO!
Strey is rocked!
Lopez lands an uppercut, right on the button! Strey tumbles backwards into the cage, staring vacantly into space! He's got no idea where he is, who he is or what day it is... Poor guy.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Juan Lopez!
