0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Babul Islam! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paulsen Ambrosius and Daniel Blasius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Islam closes this distance looking for a takedown but Painmaker circles away. Painmaker shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Islam counters with a nice double leg into side control. Painmaker won't be happy with that. Islam wants to stand but Painmaker has his arm trapped. The referee asks Islam politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Islam prefers to stall for the moment though. Painmaker tries to get back to half guard but can't. Painmaker can't do much from the bottom here. Painmaker gets back to half guard. Islam wants to lay and pray for a moment but Painmaker keeps working. Islam wants to stand but Painmaker has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Islam is looking to advance position but Painmaker won't allow it.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Islam tries to close the distance and clinch but Painmaker swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Painmaker closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Islam is trying to maintain the position but Painmaker is very close to passing his half guard. Islam taking some punishment here, with Painmaker in his half guard. There ya go! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Painmaker is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Painmaker gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Islam shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Painmaker counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Islam's guard now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
