Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lucio Faber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julio Patino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lucio Faber!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Julio Patino!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Edson Gomes and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Patino shoots in looking for a takedown. Faber tries to sprawl out of it but Patino keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Faber manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Faber circles away from the clinch attempt.
Horrible takedown by Patino or perhaps it was just good defense by Faber which made him look bad.
Patino tries to bum rush Faber with a series of wild strikes but Faber uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Faber gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Patino counters with a takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Patino trying to control the position but Faber is working away.
Patino might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Faber kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Patino working the ground and pound but Faber is defending the strikes.

Faber manages to work his way to half guard, despite Patino's best efforts.
Faber gets back to full guard.
Patino sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Faber keeping moving, preventing Patino from controlling successfully.
Patino tries to free his leg and advance position but Faber is retaining full guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Patino stays in close to Faber's body and controls the position.

Faber is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Patino trying to control the position from guard on top but Faber is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Patino is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Patino gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Faber counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Faber.
Lucio Faber has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Julio Patino.

Faber drops back, looking for a kneebar! Patino looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Patino looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Patino!
Patino wants to control for a moment but Faber uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Patino is pressing down on Faber's thigh, looking to free his foot. Faber is holding on for now.

Patino throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Patino is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Patino is trying to control. Faber wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Patino wants to free his trapped foot but Faber is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Patino stalling away here and it's allowed Faber to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Julio Patino will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Patino feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Faber can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Patino controls the pace.

Patino slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Despite being in the dominant position, Julio Patino just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Patino throws a jab when Faber was well out of range.

and Faber counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Patino!
Faber won't let Patino get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Patino is trying to reverse the position but instead Faber has taken his back - oops!

Faber working for a choke but Patino is defending well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Faber is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Patino knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Patino for a finish.
Patino really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Faber. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
I really don't envy Patino right now.

Faber is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Patino has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Patino manages to escape to his feet.

Patino closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Patino tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Patino staying calm.
Faber takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Patino looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Faber is avoiding damage well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Patino controlling the position.

Patino working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Patino wants to stand but Faber is controlling his arm.
Patino controlling the position from side mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Julio Patino will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Patino looks like he's trying to stand up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Patino shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Faber but Faber pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Patino throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Faber's waist but Faber gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Patino off to one side.
Lucio Faber has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Julio Patino.
No luck for Patino with that takedown attempt.

Faber drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Faber thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Patino has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Faber off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Patino attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Patino scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Patino is on top in guard.

Patino decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Patino scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Patino perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Patino is looking for a kimura here.
Patino takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Patino working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Faber's thigh. Faber counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Lucio Faber has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Patino not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Lucio Faber showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Patino has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
