Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Atkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alfons Oberg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jake Atkins looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jake Atkins! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Alfons Oberg! The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Marco Blurström and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Oberg throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Atkins's waist but Atkins gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Oberg off to one side. Atkins looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Atkins wants to clinch. Atkins takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Oberg tries to clinch up. Oberg fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Atkins, pushing him back against the cage. Atkins prevents a takedown attempt there.
Atkins trying to control the position but instead, Oberg has worked for underhooks and has pushed Atkins into the cage. Oberg leaning against his opponent.

Atkins tries to break free but Oberg pushes him back against the cage. Oberg has Atkins pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Oberg pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Atkins tumbling to the mat - Oberg dives into Atkins's guard. Oberg with a nice head shot there. Atkins working for a triangle but Oberg defends it easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Oberg sitting in guard here, content to control. Oberg must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Oberg thows a big elbow that misses. Atkins trying to keep a closed guard but Oberg is proving a slippery customer.

I looks like Oberg might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Oberg postures up and lands a big shot to Atkins's brow. Atkins keeping full guard, as Oberg tries to pass. Oberg controls from within his opponent's guard. Atkins wants to stand but Oberg is controlling the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Oberg seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Oberg looking to pass the guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Atkins wants to get back to his feet but Oberg is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Oberg throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Atkins slaps away a takedown attempt from Oberg, before circling back to the center of the mat. Oberg shoots in and drives through. Atkins sprawls well. Oberg scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Oberg controlling the action here. Atkins avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Oberg. Atkins is trying to get back to full guard. Oberg is looking for a kimura but Atkins is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Oberg to get the leverage. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Oberg in particular looking to stall. Oberg wants to pass to mount but Atkins is defending the position. Oberg sitting and controlling from the half guard. Atkins is looking to control Oberg's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Atkins avoid being mounted? Oberg thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Atkins's head.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Oberg scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Atkins can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Oberg controls the pace. Atkins wants to sweep but no luck. Oberg is stalling in the full guard.

Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Oberg thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Alfons Oberg showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Oberg pressing his opponent against the cage. Atkins jumps guard but Oberg stands there with Atkins around his waist. Atkins gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Oberg gets control of Atkins's arms and successfully pulls guard. Oberg will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Oberg wants to get back to his feet but Atkins is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Atkins trying to control the position from guard on top but Oberg is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Atkins wants to get up but he can't break Oberg's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Atkins preventing the sweep. Atkins postures up in Oberg's guard and throws a big left but Oberg blocks it.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Nice sprawl there from Atkins as Oberg shoots in. Oberg fails to land the takedown. Oberg closes the distance and clinches.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Oberg is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Atkins pulls him back up using the underhooks. Jake Atkins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alfons Oberg. Atkins drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Oberg gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Atkins has Oberg pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Oberg manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Oberg is trying to break the clinch but Atkins has him pressed against the cage. Atkins is pressed up against the cage. Oberg has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Atkins down to the mat. Atkins avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Oberg blocks a head kick by Atkins.
Alfons Oberg seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Atkins slaps away a takedown attempt from Oberg, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Atkins leaves Oberg with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Oberg scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Oberg fails to land the takedown. Oberg shoots and misses and Atkins counters with a nice double leg into side control. Oberg won't be happy with that. Atkins trying to control the action but Oberg is working from the bottom. Atkins tries for a kimura but Oberg is defending well.
And that's the end of the fight! Jake Atkins showed his dominance in that final round. Well Oberg has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
