PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hugh Chernenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aja Usw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Hugh Chernenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Aja Usw!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Dmitry Maklakov and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chernenko thows a left - swing and a miss!
Chernenko ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Usw moves away.
Chernenko throws a series of punches but Usw avoids them all with ease.
Hugh Chernenko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Horrible takedown by Usw or perhaps it was just good defense by Chernenko which made him look bad.
Chernenko stuffs the takedown attempt from Usw. Usw gets slowly back to his feet.
Usw will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Hugh Chernenko has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aja Usw.
Chernenko throws out a powerful jab.
Chernenko misses with an uppercut.
Usw fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Chernenko avoids it really well and circles away.
Usw fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Chernenko takes a swing at Usw's ribcage but misses.
Chernenko misses with a two punch combination.

Usw avoids a punch combination nicely.
Usw shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Chernenko but Chernenko pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Usw closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Chernenko did well to prevent Usw getting side control.

Usw is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Chernenko doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Usw.

Chernenko pushes Usw off and scrambles back to his feet.

Usw closes this distance looking for a takedown but Chernenko circles away.
Chernenko swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Chernenko works over Usw's head and body with a nice combination.
Chernenko thuds his right hand into Usw's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Usw fails with a takedown attempt.
Chernenko missing with a left hand there. Usw was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Chernenko just misses with a punch to the body.
Chernenko throws a right and a left that both miss.
Chernenko looks to land a left hand but Usw moved out of range nicely.

Chernenko throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Usw bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
A left and a right from Chernenko both land. Nice combination.
Chernenko throws a nice looking combination but Usw bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Chernenko throws a right and a left that both miss.
Usw shoots for a double leg takedown but Chernenko sprawls well. He's pushed Usw's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

A slow jab from Chernenko misses its intended target.
Hugh Chernenko is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Usw throws a looping overhand right but Chernenko ducks down to avoid it.
Chernenko lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Chernenko.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Chernenko.
Chernenko controls the position.
Usw tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chernenko advances nicely into full mount.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Chernenko cracks Usw with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hugh Chernenko dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Hugh Chernenko is winning the standup battle so far.

Usw looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Chernenko gets full guard.

Chernenko is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Usw is aware though and is defending well.

Usw trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Usw drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Usw jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Usw is breathing heavily.

Chernenko is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Usw is aware though and is defending well.

Usw thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Chernenko wants to stand up but Usw is controlling him.

Chernenko looking for a guillotine here but Usw defends easily.

Chernenko is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Usw is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Usw got a little sloppy there for a moment and Chernenko has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Usw has managed to get both his arms back between Chernenko's legs - danger averted.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Usw drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Usw jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Hugh Chernenko overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Chernenko has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Usw should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Chernenko has tightened it up now! Usw should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
