PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brad Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dax Hawkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nelson comes into the arena with Black Flood Diesel - Lost Cause blaring out of the sound system. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.

With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Dax Hawkins!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Daniel Bishop and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nelson uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Hawkins.
Hawkins misses with a double jab.
Hawkins stalks Nelson and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Nelson's face. Nelson staggers backwards, shaken.
Hawkins will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

A left lands for Hawkins.
Nelson misses with a straight left.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

That was a close round but I would say that Brad Nelson will probably get the nod.

Dax Hawkins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nelson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hawkins but Hawkins pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Hawkins might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hawkins can do anything to dispel that myth.

Nelson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Nelson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

That was a close second round but I would say that Brad Nelson will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Hawkins stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hawkins wants it to stay on the feet.

Nelson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hawkins tries to avoid it but Nelson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hawkins to the ground. Hawkins escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Nelson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Hawkins manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Nelson has Hawkins in his guard.

Nelson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hawkins doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hawkins manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Nelson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hawkins gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Brad Nelson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Nelson has his feet on Hawkins's thighs here. He's pushed Hawkins off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Hawkins screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
