Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Fyodor Kovalkin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kyle Severson!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Nard Betker and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Severson throws a hook but Kovalkin avoids it easily.
Kovalkin shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Severson defends it nicely.
Kovalkin takes one to the side of the head.


It looks like Fyodor Kovalkin has been cut.
Severson throws out a loose jab but Kovalkin uses good head movement to avoid it.
Severson misses with a looping right.
Severson looks to score with a jab to the body but Kovalkin is just out of range.
Severson catches Kovalkin with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Severson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kovalkin.

Kovalkin uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Severson.

Severson throws a lazy right hand but Kovalkin sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Severson has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Severson makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Severson throws a hook to the side of Kovalkin's head but Kovalkin sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Kovalkin closes the distance and clinches up with Severson, looking for a takedown. Kovalkin pushes Severson against the cage but Severson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Kovalkin misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Severson jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Severson, as that shot connected.

Kovalkin shoots in looking for a takedown. Severson tries to sprawl out of it but Kovalkin keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Severson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Kovalkin moves out of range as Severson strikes.

Severson closes the distance and clinches.

Severson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Severson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kovalkin defending well as Severson loads up on a big left hand.

Kovalkin has a takedown stuffed.
Severson throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Severson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.


Fyodor Kovalkin's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Kovalkin dives in and grabs Severson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Severson pushes down on Kovalkin's head and hops out.

Severson fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Kovalkin is out of range.

Kyle Severson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Kovalkin wants to free his trapped foot but Severson is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Severson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kovalkin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kovalkin is working hard here to advance position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Jeez, Fyodor Kovalkin's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
Severson darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Kovalkin takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Fyodor Kovalkin's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:35 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Kyle Severson!
