PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Looney Lenny (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Claude Von Stroke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Von Stroke comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Hotel Yorba kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Claude Von Stroke will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Looney Lenny!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Claude Von Stroke!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Matheus Silva and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Von Stroke throws a big shot that misses.
Von Stroke misses with a wild body shot.
Lenny misses with a head kick.
Von Stroke moves in looking to clinch but Lenny pushes him off.
Lenny circles away from the clinch attempt.

Von Stroke fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Lenny, pushing him back against the cage.
Lenny tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Von Stroke just stands there and leans against the cage.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Von Stroke creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Lenny breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Von Stroke lands with a shot to the body.
Lenny looks for a takedown but Von Stroke sprawls well.

Lenny throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Lenny escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Von Stroke misses with a few strikes there.

Von Stroke stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Von Stroke wants it to stay on the feet.
Von Stroke connects with a good right hand that stumbles Lenny. Lenny circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

enabling Von Stroke to counter with a crisp jab.
Lenny keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Von Stroke fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Lenny looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Lenny fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Von Stroke manages to avoid it.
Lenny lunges at Von Stroke with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Von Stroke's hand.
Looney Lenny seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Von Stroke tries to keep at a distance but Lenny has taken the fight into the clinch.

Lenny pulls guard effortlessly.

Von Stroke trying to control the position from guard on top but Lenny is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Von Stroke won't allow Lenny to get back to his feet.

Von Stroke thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Von Stroke wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lenny keeps working.

Lenny tries to buck Von Stroke off but Von Stroke is having none of it.

Von Stroke goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Lenny has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Von Stroke but great work by Lenny.
Von Stroke gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Lenny tries to stand and escape but Von Stroke is controlling the position.
Lenny thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Von Stroke's head.
Lenny tries to stand but can't do so whilst Von Stroke controls his leg.
Von Stroke wants to get back to full guard.
Lenny is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Von Stroke looking for submissions off his back.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Von Stroke fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Lenny instigates a clinch.
Von Stroke is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Lenny is defending well for now.
Von Stroke lands a right hand.
Von Stroke is looking to control Lenny's arms but Lenny gets an underhook and turns him. Now Von Stroke has his back to the cage.
Lenny tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Von Stroke throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Lennys head.
The referee is keeping an eye on Von Stroke - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Lenny drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Lenny managing to block the knees to the body from Von Stroke.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Claude Von Stroke dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Lenny slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Von Stroke lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Looney Lenny is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Von Stroke slips a jab and a cross from Lenny.
Von Stroke lands a nice hook to Lenny's body. Lenny takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Lenny pulls guard effortlessly.
Lenny wants to stand and escape but Von Stroke is having none of it.
Lenny will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Von Stroke slips nicely into half guard.
Von Stroke is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Von Stroke works his foot free and advances to mount.

Von Stroke looking for a guillotine from mount but Lenny is having none of it.

Von Stroke trying to control but he's not successful this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Von Stroke won't let Lenny get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Von Stroke tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Lenny is squirming around, avoiding Von Stroke's attempts to control the action.
Lenny is in all sorts of trouble here.
Lenny slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Von Stroke is keen to just control but Lenny is a slippery customer.
Lenny looks like he's trying to stand up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Lenny is looking to get back to is feet but Von Stroke passes into side control.
You can see the frustration on Lenny's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Von Stroke takes a little break here. Lenny wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Lenny avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

Von Stroke closes the distance and pushes Lenny back into the cage.

Von Stroke wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Lenny feints and as Von Stroke raises his hands in defense, Lenny changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Von Stroke lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Lenny!

Lenny is working hard here to advance position.
Von Stroke takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Von Stroke wants to control the pace but Lenny is squirming around nicely.

Claude Von Stroke showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Lenny feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Lenny throws a strike but Von Stroke rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Lenny bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Von Stroke's guard.
Von Stroke controls Lenny momentarily but Lenny frees himself.

Lenny gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Lenny shoots in but no luck this time.
Lenny looks for a takedown but Von Stroke sprawls well.
Von Stroke scores with a decent looking hook.
Von Stroke comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Von Stroke misses the shot to the body.
Lenny wants to clinch.

Von Stroke clinches up against the cage.
Lenny blocks an elbow strike.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Lenny fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Claude Von Stroke is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Lenny looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Lenny wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Von Stroke has him pressed against the cage.

Lenny blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Lenny changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Von Stroke fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Lenny shoots in for a takedown but Von Stroke shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Lenny throws a hook but Von Stroke avoids it easily.

A jab from Von Stroke finds it's way through Lenny's defenses.
Von Stroke thuds his right hand into Lenny's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Von Stroke keeps the fight on the outside.
Von Stroke throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Von Stroke ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Looney Lenny has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Von Stroke is looking to chop away at Lenny's legs.

Claude Von Stroke comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Von Stroke winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
