Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Georges ST Pierre!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Gregory Folan and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

ST Pierre bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Kurt struggling a bit here.

ST Pierre tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
ST Pierre trying to control the action but Kurt is working from the bottom.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

ST Pierre wants to control but Kurt is keeping him busy.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Kurt tries to close the distance and clinch but ST Pierre swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Some bone on bone action there as ST Pierre checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Kurt lands with a nice combination. ST Pierre backs away looking to recover.


It looks like Georges ST Pierre has been cut.

Kurt tries to clinch but ST Pierre moves out of range.
Kurt misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kurt moves in looking to clinch but ST Pierre pushes him off.
ST Pierre tries for a takedown but Kurt sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Kurt cracks ST Pierre with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

ST Pierre fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kurt sprawls well initially but ST Pierre persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with ST Pierre in particular looking to stall.

ST Pierre decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Horrible takedown by ST Pierre or perhaps it was just good defense by Kurt which made him look bad.
Kurt tries to clinch up but ST Pierre circles away and keeps his distance.
Kurt ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
ST Pierre looks gassed!
Kurt throws a sloppy head kick and ST Pierre moves out of range easily.

ST Pierre looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

ST Pierre throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kurt's waist but Kurt gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing ST Pierre off to one side.

Kurt throws a series of strikes that have ST Pierre backpedaling.
Kurt doesn't manage to clinch there - ST Pierre circles away.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Kurt tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but ST Pierre paws at him with a jab and circles away.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Kurt drives through and clinches with ST Pierre against the cage.
Kurt wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
ST Pierre goes for a takedown in the clinch but Kurt prevents it.
Kurt wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Kurt lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Kurt tries to score a body lock takedown but ST Pierre shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
ST Pierre has Kurt pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Kurt manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

ST Pierre has hold of Kurt's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Kurt manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
ST Pierre trying to control but he's not successful this time.
ST Pierre wants to get back to his feet but Kurt is holding on tight.
Kurt is trying desperately to improve position.

ST Pierre looking to control but Kurt is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Kurt tries to reverse the position but ST Pierre maintains control.
Kurt knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for ST Pierre on the ground.
Kurt wants to hold on but ST Pierre pushes him away.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
ST Pierre can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kurt is looking to escape.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

ST Pierre is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Kurt is surviving well by controlling ST Pierre's body position as best he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Josh Kurt will probably get the nod.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Kurt throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent ST Pierre stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Josh Kurt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kurt cracks a nice hook into ST Pierre's ribs.
Kurt misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kurt throws a series of strikes that have ST Pierre backpedaling.
Kurt fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Kurt is looking to wear down ST Pierre with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Kurt closes the distance and pushes ST Pierre back into the cage.
Kurt wants to get back to striking at distance but ST Pierre won't allow it.
ST Pierre gets underhooks to prevent Kurt's takedown attempt.

ST Pierre wants the takedown. Kurt is fighting it off but ST Pierre persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Kurt's guard against the cage.

Kurt lands a couple of sideways elbows.

And that's the end of the fight!
Josh Kurt showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kurt, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
