Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jordan Hamasaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jordan Hamasaki has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jordan Hamasaki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Matt Brown!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Arvi Lind and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hamasaki shoots for a double leg takedown but Brown sprawls well. He's pushed Hamasaki's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Jordan Hamasaki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Brown throws a head kick that misses.
Hamasaki fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Brown looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Hamasaki changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Brown tries to avoid it but Hamasaki manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Brown to the ground. Brown escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jordan Hamasaki. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Hamasaki shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Hamasaki was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Hamasaki has hold of Brown's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Brown manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Hamasaki throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Hamasaki prevents Brown from getting the reversal.
Hamasaki knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Brown on the ground.
Brown wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Hamasaki.
Hamasaki misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Hamasaki jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Brown manages to avoid the submission attempt.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Hamasaki dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Brown. That did some damage!
Brown throws a low kick, looking for Hamasaki's leg but Hamasaki calmly moves out of range.
Brown tries for a takedown but Hamasaki circles away easily

and Hamasaki counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Hamasaki pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Hamasaki has managed to clinch.

Hamasaki breaks the clinch.
Hamasaki closes this distance looking for a takedown but Brown circles away.
Hamasaki shoots in and drives through. Brown sprawls well.
Hamasaki will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Brown clinches but Hamasaki breaks the clinch

and Hamasaki holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Hamasaki has Brown pressed against the cage, preventing Brown from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Brown tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Hamasaki moves into the clinch.
Hamasaki jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Brown walks away with a smile on his face. Hamasaki gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Brown shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Brown showed some decent athleticism there.
Hamasaki wants to improve his position but Brown is controlling well.
Brown not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Hamasaki is looking to improve his position.
Hamasaki is trying to control but can't.
Hamasaki tries to roll over but Brown keeps him under control.
Hamasaki tries to kick Brown off but Brown keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Hamasaki makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Hamasaki.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Hamasaki throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Brown's waist but Brown gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hamasaki off to one side.

Hamasaki feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Hamasaki is pushing down on Brown's leg trying to pass to half guard. Brown is fighting to maintain full guard but Hamasaki has managed to sneak the leg through.
Hamasaki looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hamasaki is pressing down on Brown's thigh, looking to free his foot. Brown is holding on for now.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hamasaki perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Hamasaki trying to mount his opponent but Brown defends it.
Well, if Hamasaki is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Jordan Hamasaki just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

and Hamasaki counters by clinching up.

Hamasaki's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Brown stuffs the takedown.
Brown tries to grapple but his opponent circles
letting Hamasaki counter with a right hand.
Jordan Hamasaki is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Horrible takedown by Hamasaki or perhaps it was just good defense by Brown which made him look bad.

Hamasaki tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Brown paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Brown decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Brown thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Brown wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hamasaki keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hamasaki on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hamasaki tries to get out of the position.
Hamasaki is concentrating on defense, preventing Brown from advancing position.
Hamasaki gets full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Hamasaki clinches up against the cage.
Hamasaki lands an elbow that stopped Brown in his tracks for a moment.


It looks like Matt Brown has been cut.
Brown throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Hamasaki blocks it with crossed arms.
Brown gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Hamasaki.
Brown tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Hamasaki manages to pull guard.
Brown prevents Hamasaki from getting back to his feet.
Hamasaki has Brown pulled in close to control his posture.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hamasaki is on top in guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Brown can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hamasaki controls the pace.

Hamasaki has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Brown has his foot on Hamasaki's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hamasaki works his way back into a safe position though.
Brown wants to stand but Hamasaki is controlling the position.
Hamasaki controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Hamasaki trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Hamasaki is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hamasaki accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Brown has a closed guard, preventing Hamasaki from standing up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Brown throws a low kick but it's checked well by Hamasaki.
Brown takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Hamasaki fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Brown avoids it really well and circles away.

Hamasaki rushes Brown and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Hamasaki drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Brown gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Hamasaki tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Brown just stands there and leans against the cage.

Brown wants to get back to his feet but Hamasaki is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Brown tries to bench press Hamasaki off him but Hamasaki keeps the position.

Hamasaki tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hamasaki has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Hamasaki is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Brown has escaped the position, nice work there.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jordan Hamasaki showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hamasaki, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
