The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
ROCK tries for a takedown but Shelton sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
ROCK fails with the takedown.
ROCK stuffs the takedown attempt from Shelton. Shelton gets slowly back to his feet.
ROCK shoots in but Shelton avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for JAMES ROCK. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Shelton fails with a takedown attempt.
Shelton misses with a takedown attempt - ROCK sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
ROCK has closed the distance and engaged Shelton in a clinch.

Shelton tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. ROCK just stands there and leans against the cage.

ROCK looking to control but Shelton is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Shelton keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
ROCK working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
ROCK has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, ROCK cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
That has opened up Clyde Shelton's cut even more.

ROCK connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Clyde Shelton's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
