PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dick Hickman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jager Bomb (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jager Bomb was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dick Hickman!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jager Bomb!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Paul Aken and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bomb blocks a head kick by Hickman.
Hickman tries to close the distance and clinch but Bomb swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Bomb closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Bomb tries to pass to full mount but Hickman defends it.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Bomb seems to be looking for submissions.
Bomb trying to control the action but Hickman is working from the bottom.
Hickman is trying to stand.
Bomb wants to free his trapped foot but Hickman is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Hickman knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bomb on the ground.
Bomb is stalling here. Hickman is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Bomb seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Hickman has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Bomb tries to bench press Hickman off him but Hickman keeps the position.

Bomb regains half guard.

Hickman postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Bomb to stand up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hickman misses with a wild combination.
Dick Hickman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hickman throws a sloppy head kick and Bomb moves out of range easily.
Hickman pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hickman wants to clinch up but Bomb keeps it at a distance.
Hickman misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Hickman tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Hickman attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Hickman is looking to clinch but Bomb is avoiding it.

Decent striking displayed by Bomb there.
Bomb avoids the head kick by Hickman.
Hickman throws a head kick that misses.
Hickman lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Bomb backs up against the ropes.
Hickman misses with a head kick.
Bomb fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Bomb scores with a jab to the body.
Hickman walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Bomb scores with a nice strike.

Bomb feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Bomb stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hickman swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Bomb is pushing down on Hickman's leg trying to pass to half guard. Hickman is fighting to maintain full guard but Bomb has managed to sneak the leg through.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bomb is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Hickman reverses the position - he's now on top in Bomb's guard.
Hickman trying to stand up but can't free himself from Bomb's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jager Bomb dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Hickman tries to clinch there but Bomb circles away.
Dick Hickman is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Bomb bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Hickman's head.

Hickman closes the distance and pushes Bomb back into the ropes.

Hickman's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Bomb scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Hickman doesn't seem bothered though.
Bomb tries to bum rush Hickman with a series of wild strikes but Hickman uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Hickman throws out a loose jab but Bomb uses good head movement to avoid it.
Hickman throws a left and a right that both miss

and Bomb counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Bomb stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hickman swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Bomb is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hickman is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hickman has escaped and now he's on top!

Hickman gets to his feet - Bomb follows without any prompting.

Hickman tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Hickman misses with a double jab.
Hickman closes the distance but Bomb moves to the side
and Bomb counters with a lovely straight right hand!
A big right from Bomb misses.
Bomb scores with a jab to the jaw.
Hickman throws a combination that misses
and Bomb counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Bomb uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Hickman tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Hickman tries to clinch up.
Bomb goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Bomb avoids the head kick by Hickman.

Bomb checks the leg kick nicely there.
Bomb throws a hook but Hickman blocks it.

Hickman throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Hickman - that will leave a mark!
Bomb swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Hickman.
Bomb avoids the head kick by Hickman.

and Hickman counters with a one-two to the body.
Hickman closes the distance but Bomb moves to the side
and Bomb counters with a right hand to the body.

Bomb scores with a one two! Hickman had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

and Bomb counters with a takedown into side control.
Bomb is trying to move to mount but Hickman reverses beautifully and ends up in Bomb's guard.

A close second round but Jager Bomb will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Bomb, as that shot connected.

and Bomb counters with a series of strikes. Hickman will be more careful next time no doubt.

letting Bomb counter with a right hand.

and Bomb counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Hickman lands a nice looking body kick.
Bomb throws a hook but Hickman blocks it.
Hickman is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Bomb.

Hickman falls off balance throwing a combination
and Bomb counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Hickman is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Bomb.
Hickman avoids the body shot from Bomb.
Hickman throws a hook but Bomb avoids it easily.
Hickman buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Hickman wants to clinch.
No joy there for Bomb, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Nice defenses there by Bomb.
Bomb has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Bomb there as he acknowledges the shot.
Hickman wants to clinch.

Hickman gets caught flat footed, as Bomb shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Bomb passes Hickman's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Hickman is trying to stand up here but Bomb is controlling him well.
Bomb is looking to advance position but Hickman won't allow it.
Bomb is keen to just control but Hickman is a slippery customer.
Hickman won't allow Bomb to pass to mount.

Bomb is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hickman has managed to free his arm - good work.

Bomb moves nicely into side control.
Hickman stops Bomb from passing to mount.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Bomb avoids the head kick by Hickman.
Bomb scores with a jab to the head.
Bomb blocks a head kick by Hickman.
Bomb sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Hickman tries to clinch but Bomb moves away
and Bomb counters with a one-two to the body.

Nice body kick there by Hickman.
Bomb takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Hickman throws a head kick that misses.
Dick Hickman is winning the standup battle so far.
Bomb blocks a head kick by Hickman.
The fighters circle momentarily. Bomb darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Danga de danga de dang - Hickman scores with a four punch combination!
Bomb checks a leg kick.
Hickman throws a head kick but Bomb moves out of range.
Hickman tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Bomb counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hickman takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Bomb, as that shot connected.

and Bomb counters with a straight right hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but Dick Hickman did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it.
That's time! Hickman's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Bomb throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Hickman lands a head kick. Bomb smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Bomb looks to land a combination. Hickman sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Hickman throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Bomb stumbling backwards into the ropes! Bomb bounces back off the ropes towards Hickman, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Hickman lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Hickman celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:19 of round 4, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Dick Hickman!
