Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Wanderlei Orlando (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julian Valdez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Valdez is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by so amazing. Julian Valdez is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Julian Valdez! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Taro Takaoka and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice takedown defense from Orlando. No joy for Valdez on that attempt. Valdez fails to land the takedown. Valdez shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Orlando as he avoids it easily. Wanderlei Orlando has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Julian Valdez. Some wild striking there from Orlando.

Valdez tries for a takedown but Orlando sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A punch combination from Orlando misses. Orlando tries to bum rush Valdez with a series of wild strikes but Valdez uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Orlando misses with a head kick.

Orlando will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Orlando misses with a hook. Valdez ducked under it nicely. Orlando throws a right hand that Valdez ducks under and follows up with a left that Valdez also avoids with ease. Good work by Valdez as he checks the leg kick. Orlando fails to land with a series of punches.
Orlando throws a looping overhand right but Valdez ducks down to avoid it. Valdez shoots in for a takedown and gets it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Valdez is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Orlando sees it coming and defends easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Valdez scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Orlando on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Valdez not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Valdez slips a nice elbow through Orlando's hands, connecting with Orlando's forehead. Valdez is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Orlando is just riding it out for now. Valdez eventually gives up the hold. Orlando pushes Valdez off looking to stand but Valdez dives back in and keeps control.
Orlando on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Orlando tries to get out of the position. Valdez is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Orlando defends it well. Valdez not landing any meaningful shots this time.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Valdez is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Orlando has managed to free his arm - good work. Orlando is trying to stand.

Orlando fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Valdez manages to avoid it. Valdez drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Valdez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Valdez is working Orlando over with some ground and pound from side control. Orlando is trying to get back to his feet. Valdez working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Orlando is trying to buck Valdez off.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Orlando misses with the combination.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Julian Valdez dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Valdez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Orlando's waist but Orlando gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Valdez off to one side. Orlando misses with a series of wild punches.
Valdez throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Orlando was covering up waiting for the punch and Valdez finishes the takedown easily into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Valdez postures up and lands a big shot to Orlando's brow. Valdez throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Orlando works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Valdez postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Valdez postures up in Orlando's guard and throws a big left but Orlando blocks it. Valdez is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Valdez working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Valdez slips a jab and a cross from Orlando.
Valdez is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Orlando's half guard. Orlando is trying to stand back up but Valdez is controlling him
