Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Darren Miller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brent MetCalf!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Luis Engracia and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Miller shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches MetCalf napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Miller could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
MetCalf tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Miller moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
MetCalf is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
MetCalf is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.
MetCalf tries to buck Miller off but Miller is having none of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Miller wants to control but MetCalf is keeping him busy.
You can see the frustration on MetCalf's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

MetCalf tries to improve position but can't.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
MetCalf doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Miller counters with a nice double leg into side control. MetCalf won't be happy with that.
Miller wants to lay and pray for a moment but MetCalf keeps working.

MetCalf sneaks back into half guard.
MetCalf is looking to improve his position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Miller not doing much here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

MetCalf shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Miller counters with a shoot takedown. MetCalf fights it but they end up in guard.
Miller might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
MetCalf looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

MetCalf's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

MetCalf wants to sweep but no luck.
MetCalf seems keen to control Miller's posture.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Miller shoots and misses

and MetCalf decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Miller's guard.

Despite being in the dominant position, Brent MetCalf just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and MetCalf counters with a nice double leg into side control. Miller won't be happy with that.

Brent MetCalf has got the better of the ground game so far.

Despite being in the dominant position, Brent MetCalf just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Miller gets the takedown into side control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

MetCalf manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
MetCalf is trying to get back to full guard.
MetCalf is holding on to half guard well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Miller wants to take a breather but MetCalf is having none of it.
Miller is really struggling to control MetCalf but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Miller stalling away here and it's allowed MetCalf to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Brent MetCalf comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Miller has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
