Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Trevor Reese (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thiago Coasta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Trevor Reese has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Trevor Reese!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thiago Coasta!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Edson Gomes and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coasta changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Reese tries to avoid it but Coasta manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Reese to the ground. Reese escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Coasta tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Reese paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Reese closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Coasta regains full guard. Nicely done.
Coasta is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Reese advances to half guard.
Reese is thwarting Coasta's attempts to control the position.
Coasta is looking to get back to full guard here but Reese has managed to pass to side control instead.
Coasta swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Coasta keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Reese swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Coasta is now in Reese's guard. A big mistake from Reese there, giving up the dominant position!
Reese manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Coasta manages to get himself to full guard.

Coasta had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Reese defends it easily.
Reese stops Coasta from standing up.
Reese controls from within his opponent's guard.
Coasta pulls Reese in close to his closed guard and prevents Reese from doing any damage or advancing position.
Reese wants to pass the guard but Coasta is keeping the position.

Coasta wants to stand but Reese is controlling the position.
Reese controlling from the top position.
Coasta keeping moving, preventing Reese from controlling successfully.
Coasta has a closed guard, preventing Reese from standing up.
Reese slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Reese wants to control from the top but Coasta keeps moving.
Reese stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Coasta swivels though and keeps the full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Coasta swinging wildly here.
Reese moves in looking to clinch but Coasta pushes him off.

and Reese decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Coasta's guard.

Reese really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Coasta is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Reese dives into side control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Coasta bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

Reese looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Reese decides to return to a standing position.

Coasta is breathing heavily.

Reese clinches up against the cage.

Coasta pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Reese shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Reese is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Trevor Reese overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Coasta looking to hit a scissor sweep but Reese is one step ahead there.

Reese tries to free his leg and advance position but Coasta is retaining full guard.
Coasta trying to keep a closed guard but Reese is proving a slippery customer.
Reese is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Coasta is being controlled here.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Coasta wants to control but Reese postures up.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Reese scores with a couple of short elbows.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Coasta is looking for a sweep.
Reese remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Reese has a hand on Coasta's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Coasta takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Reese is squirming around, avoiding Coasta's attempts to control the action.
Reese tries to hold on but Coasta postures up.

Coasta jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Reese manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Reese is looking to reverse the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Reese lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

Coasta rushes Reese and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Knees in the clinch landing for Coasta.

Reese has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Coasta uses from the top position.
Coasta trying to control but Reese is working from the bottom.
Coasta is working Reese over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Reese looking to hit a scissor sweep but Coasta is one step ahead there.
Reese throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Coasta postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Coasta throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Reese works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Reese looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Coasta would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Coasta trying to control the position from guard on top but Reese is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Reese lands a decent punch to the body there.
Coasta wants to control from the top but Reese keeps moving.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Coasta stands up and waves to Reese to follow him.

and Reese counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Reese.
Coasta has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Reese has clasped his hands together around Coasta's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Coasta is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Coasta wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Thiago Coasta.
I think Reese has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
