The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grant changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Boxer tries to avoid it but Grant manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Boxer to the ground. Boxer escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Joe Boxer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Boxer lands a jab.
It looks like Jeff Grant has been cut.
Grant shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Boxer as he avoids it easily.
Grant takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Boxer throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Grant works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Boxer wants to stand but Grant has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Boxer postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Boxer accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Boxer is looking to stand up but Grant won't let him.
Grant is trying to control the position but Boxer postures up.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Grant lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Boxer, right into the meat.
Grant throws a lazy right hand but Boxer sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Grant misses with a takedown attempt
and Boxer counters with a one-two to the body.
Joe Boxer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeff Grant.

Grant looks gassed!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Boxer got a little sloppy there for a moment and Grant has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Boxer has managed to get both his arms back between Grant's legs - danger averted.

Boxer gets to his feet. Grant looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Crack! A monster head kick from Boxer and Grant falls like a tree - timbeeeeeeeeeeerrrr! A highlight reel knockout by Boxer!
