The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Russell Pearce and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shifflett gets a takedown into half guard.
Benson is refusing to be controlled, as Shifflett sits in half guard.
Benson looks like he's trying to stand up.
Shifflett trying to control the action but Benson is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Shifflett shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Benson's guard.

Shifflett throws a strike but Benson rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

and Benson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Shifflett lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Benson is looking to wear down Shifflett with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Shifflett.
The crowd cheers as Benson lands an impressive looking overhand right. Shifflett doesn't seem phased though.

Benson is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Shifflett has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Benson wants to sweep but no luck.

Shifflett drops back, looking for a kneebar! Benson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Benson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Benson!
Shifflett is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Benson's leg. Oh but that's left an opportunity for Benson! He's got an arm triangle... it looks tight! He's rotating and Shifflett has tapped! This one is allllll over!
