Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Josu Ander! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Meru Otonashi! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Luis Engracia and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ander misses with a straight left. Otonashi misses with a straight right. Ander shoots in for a takedown but Otonashi shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Otonashi lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Ander takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Otonashi throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Josu Ander seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A solid leg kick lands there for Otonashi.
A looping hook to the body misses from Otonashi. Ander does a little dance to reset his feet. Otonashi throws a hook to the side of Ander's head but Ander sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Ander takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Ander is breathing heavily. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Otonashi moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Otonashi throws a nice inside leg kick. Otonashi lands with a hook. Ander tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Ander steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Otonashi. That one must have hurt. An inside leg kick lands from Otonashi. Otonashi fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Ander. A chopping leg kick lands by Otonashi. Otonashi lets loose with a powerful body kick. Ander will feel that in the morning.
That's one minute gone in the round. Otonashi looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Otonashi ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Nice shot by Otonashi. Otonashi lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Otonashi lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Otonashi connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Nice shot by Otonashi. Meru Otonashi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Otonashi lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Ander tries to move into range but Otonashi moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Otonashi scores with a leg kick.
Otonashi scores with a spinning back kick! Ander shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Good standup being displayed there by Otonashi as he connects with a hook. Ander gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Nice body kick from Otonashi.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Otonashi lands a jab to the head.
Jab, jab by Otonashi - just one landing.
Ander is rocked! A solid leg kick lands there for Otonashi.
Oh Ander is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Otonashi throws a nice inside leg kick. Ander seems to have got his legs back now. Otonashi feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Ander's calf. Otonashi lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Otonashi lands a nice looking body kick. Otonashi scoring well with a low kick there.
Otonashi delivers a nice body kick. Otonashi throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. A shot to de liver by Otonashi. Beautiful body shot. A thudding body kick lands there by Otonashi!
Ander takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Otonashi lands with a thumping leg kick.
Otonashi connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
It looks like Josu Ander has been cut.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ander slips a jab and a cross from Otonashi.
Ander is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. Ander chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Otonashi can pounce on him.
Ander has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Otonashi finds it's way round the side to connect with Ander's head. Ander will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body. Otonashi connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Ander momentarily.
Otonashi scores with a decent looking hook. BOOM! Otonashi lands a beautiful left hook that drops Ander. Ander tries to recover but Otonashi is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Ander lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Meru Otonashi!
