The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

That was a close round but I would say that licht gewicht will probably get the nod.

Sherk goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

gewicht shoots for a double leg takedown but Sherk sprawls well. He's pushed gewicht's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Sherk breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Sherk counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. gewicht is lucky that one didn't land flush.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for licht gewicht. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sherk fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt gewicht.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
