Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rickard Patterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bert Cork (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rickard Patterson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bert Cork! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Winston Howard and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cork misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Cork fails in his attempt to clinch. Patterson shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Patterson is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Cork sees it coming and defends easily. Patterson is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Cork tries to get to full guard but Patterson has control of the leg. Cork wants to control but Patterson is keeping busy.
Patterson lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Patterson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Cork doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Patterson.
That's one minute gone in the round. Patterson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Patterson is looking to take a break and control but Cork is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Cork moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Patterson wants to control from the top but Cork keeps moving. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Patterson controls from within his opponent's guard. Patterson postures up.
Patterson cracks Cork with a solid left hand. Patterson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cork swivels though and keeps the full guard. Patterson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Patterson thows a big elbow that misses. Cork doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Patterson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Cork is proving hard to escape from. Cork looking for a guillotine here but Patterson defends easily.

Cork might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Patterson kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Cork stuffs the takedown. Patterson shoots in looking for a takedown. Cork tries to sprawl out of it but Patterson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cork manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Patterson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Cork was covering up waiting for the punch and Patterson finishes the takedown easily into guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cork working a defensive guard but Patterson manages to pass into side control anyway.
Patterson working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Cork is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Patterson controlling the pace. Patterson wants to pass the guard but Cork is defending well. Patterson decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rickard Patterson dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Patterson tries to close the distance and clinch but Cork swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Cork fails with the takedown and Patterson counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Cork tries to roll over but Patterson keeps him under control. Patterson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Cork knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Patterson sitting and controlling from the half guard. Cork makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Cork. Patterson stands up and waves to Cork to follow him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cork blocks the body kick.
Cork misses with a takedown and Patterson counters with a nice double leg into guard. Cork is breathing heavily. Patterson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Patterson wants to pass the guard but Cork is keeping the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cork bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Patterson's guard. Cork won't allow Patterson to get back to his feet. Patterson manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Cork slaps away a takedown attempt from Patterson, before circling back to the center of the mat. Patterson is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Patterson throws a series of punches but Cork moves out of range. The fighters circling - Patterson throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Cork throws a left and a right that both miss
and Patterson counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Patterson keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Patterson throwing shots but Cork is blocking nicely. Cork trying to control but Patterson postures up.
Patterson passes to full mount! Cork really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Patterson postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Cork looks a forlorn figure.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Patterson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Patterson working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Patterson controlling the position easily from mount. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Patterson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Rickard Patterson dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Patterson tries for a takedown but Cork sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Cork scores with a takedown into Patterson's guard. Patterson preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Patterson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Cork's guard. Patterson is stalling in the full guard. Patterson wants to control from the top but Cork keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Patterson is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Cork is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Patterson passes Cork's left leg - he's now in half guard. Cork is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Cork takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Patterson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cork with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Patterson content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Patterson lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Patterson postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Cork to stand up. Patterson scores a takedown into full mount! Cork wants to hold on but Patterson pushes him away. Patterson dominating with strikes here. Patterson working Cork over with strikes here. Patterson is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Cork is surviving well by controlling Patterson's body position as best he can. Cork swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Patterson lands a big elbow. Patterson content just to control the position here. Patterson connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Cork bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Patterson pulls Cork in close to his closed guard and prevents Cork from doing any damage or advancing position. Patterson trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Cork trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Bert Cork has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Rickard Patterson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Patterson wants to stand up but Cork is controlling him.
And that's the end of the fight! Rickard Patterson showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Patterson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
