Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, david raths! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lexx Pain! The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Radbod Blank and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! raths misses with the combination.
raths wants to clinch up but Pain keeps it at a distance. Pain fails in his attempt to clinch. Pain moves out of range as raths strikes. Pain tries to clinch up but raths circles away and keeps his distance. Pain shoots in for a double leg but raths sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Pain stuffs the takedown attempt from raths. raths gets slowly back to his feet. raths shoots in for a takedown but Pain shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. raths shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for david raths. That's going to take a lot out of him. raths throws a body kick that digs right into the meat. raths tries to clinch but fails miserably and Pain counters by moving into the clinch. Pain lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Pain thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing raths to regain full guard. raths throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
raths is looking to stand up but Pain isn't so interested in that idea. Pain must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Pain postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pain sitting in guard, not really doing much. Pain postures up.
Pain with a flurry of punches that miss. raths is working an open guard so Pain takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. raths looks to clinch and Pain counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for raths! raths taking shots to the head. raths tries to hold on but Pain pushes him away. raths gets back to half guard. raths is breathing heavily. raths trying to hold on to Pain's head to control him but Pain postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pain seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
raths might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. raths is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Pain really doesn't want to stay on the ground with raths. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. raths is looking to control Pain's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can raths avoid being mounted? raths wants to improve his position but Pain is controlling well.
Pain throwing shots but raths is blocking nicely.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Pain forces raths back against the cage and clinches. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Pain creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
That's three minutes gone in the round. raths tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Pain just stands there and leans against the cage. A head punch blocked on the inside by Pain. raths tries to pull guard but Pain holds him up against the cage and eventually raths drops back down to his feet.
Nice elbow from Pain. raths changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Pain fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Pain clinches up against the cage. Pain with a knee to the head.
Pain has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. raths is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Pain lands an elbow just above raths 's eye. Pain gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. raths really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. raths wants a takedown but no success here.
Pain lands a damaging elbow. Pain scores with a nice hook to the head. raths tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Pain just stands there and leans against the cage. Pain crunches a lovely knee into raths's ribcage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pain connects with a nasty looking knee right to raths's face.
Pain pulls guard. Pain kicks raths off and gets to his feet. raths has a takedown stuffed. Pain shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and raths counters with a thumping low kick. Pain shoots for a double leg takedown but raths sprawls well. He's pushed Pain's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Pain is looking to score with low kicks. raths changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Pain looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. raths wants to control for a moment but Pain uses the opportunity to move back to half guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. raths looks to score some points with some ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lexx Pain dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
raths shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Pain manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. raths wanted to stand there but Pain had control of the position. Pain is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst raths is controlling him. raths looking to sit in guard and control but Pain gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Pain tries to stand but raths is controlling from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pain won't allow raths to sweep him here. raths uses the cage to get back to his feet.
raths tries to clinch up and Pain counters into the clinch. Nicely done. raths has had enough of the clinch but Pain keeps him there for the moment. raths wants to break free but Pain has control.
raths is trying to force a seperation but Pain has the dominant position. raths jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Pain walks away with a smile on his face. raths gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Pain closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Pain has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. raths avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. raths tries to circle away but Pain has him pinned against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pain tries for a takedown but raths manages to get underhooks.
raths jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Pain walks away with a smile on his face. raths gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. raths turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. The fight stays on the outside here - Pain looks like he's thinking about clinching though. A telegraphed takedown attempt from raths is defended easily by Pain. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for david raths. That's going to take a lot out of him. Horrible takedown by raths or perhaps it was just good defense by Pain which made him look bad. raths tries to clinch there but Pain circles away.
Pain closes the distance and clinches. Pain drags the fight down to the ground.
Pain utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. raths is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Pain is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Pain has escaped and now he's on top! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. raths trying to control the position.
raths looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pain is one step ahead there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Pain tries to stand but raths is controlling from the bottom. Pain controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Pain throwing strikes but missing. Pain stopping the sweep attempt from raths. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. raths tries to clinch and Pain counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Pain. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lexx Pain showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
raths looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Pain avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. raths throws and elbow that misses. Pain uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in raths's guard. Nice move by Pain! raths manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pain manages to get himself to full guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Pain holds on and takes a little breather. Both fighters are breathing heavily. raths wants to control from the top but Pain keeps moving.

That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Pain wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. raths trying to control but Pain is working from the bottom.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Pain closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Pain can't keep his opponent in guard - raths advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pain can do anything to dispel that myth. raths wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pain keeps working. raths throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Pain is refusing to be controlled, as raths sits in half guard. raths wants to stand but Pain has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Pain preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Lexx Pain is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Pain won't allow raths to pass to mount.
And that's the end of the fight! david raths showed his dominance in that final round. Well Pain has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
