Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Marshall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Marshall! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Frank Mir! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Elvis Blanc and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mir is looking to clinch. Marshall gets a takedown into half guard. Mir pushes Marshall off looking to stand but Marshall dives back in and keeps control.
Marshall working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Marshall stops Mir from getting back to his feet.
Marshall is nestled in close to Mir, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Marshall could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Marshall scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Marshall thows a huge punch but Mir dodges it nicely.

Perhaps he should improve his position first. Marshall lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Marshall takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Mir holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Marshall tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Both fighters are breathing heavily. Mir won't allow Marshall to pass to mount. Mir makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Mir slaps away a takedown attempt from Marshall, before circling back to the center of the mat. Marshall shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Marshall. That's going to take a lot out of him. A right-left combo lands from Mir. Mir wants to clinch up but Marshall keeps it at a distance. Marshall walks into a left hand. Marshall closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Mir to the mat! Mir manages to get full guard. Marshall trying to control but Mir is working from the bottom. Marshall in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Marshall working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Marshall cracks Mir with a solid left hand. Mir wants to get back to his feet but Marshall is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Marshall changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mir looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Mir wants to get back to his feet. The strikes coming from Marshall are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Mir is trying to get back to his feet. Marshall looks up at the clock and then as Mir takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Marshall smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Mir tries to escape but Marshall is in control. A lull in the action here. Mir explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! Marshall darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Marshall throwing shots but Mir is blocking nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mir keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Mir is trying to stand up here but Marshall is controlling him well. Marshall lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Marshall winds up and cracks Mir with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Mir is trying to stand back up but Marshall is controlling him

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Mir tries to clinch but Marshall is having none of it. Marshall has a takedown stuffed. Mir fails in his attempt to clinch. Frank Mir has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! John Marshall is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Mir is looking to clinch but Marshall is avoiding it.
And that's the end of the fight! John Marshall showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Marshall, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
