Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Red Slayer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lucas Lemos! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Paulo Santos and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A decent looking body kick lands there for Lemos. Slayer tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Slayer misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Slayer misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Lemos swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Slayer gets a takedown into half guard. Lemos is trying to stand.
Lemos is looking to control Slayer's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Lemos avoid being mounted? Lemos makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Lemos. Lemos wants to sweep but no luck. Slayer trying to control the position from guard on top but Lemos is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Slayer in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Slayer is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Lemos is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Lemos has escaped and now he's on top! Slayer escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lemos gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Lemos is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Lemos wants to stand but Slayer has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Slayer on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Slayer tries to get out of the position. Lemos working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Slayer's head. Slayer is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Slayer had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Lemos defends it easily. Slayer is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Slayer working for a triangle but Lemos defends it easily.
Slayer is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Lemos controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Let's hope that Lemos has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Lemos's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Slayer has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Lemos off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Red Slayer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lemos scoring well with a low kick there.
Lemos thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Slayer if he has to take too many more of those.
Slayer walks forward, straight into a front kick from Lemos. Left hook, right uppercut from Lemos. A nice combination there by Lemos.
It looks like Red Slayer has been cut. Lemos displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Slayer is rocked! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Good exchange - Lemos coming out on top. Oh Slayer is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Lemos connects with a jab, followed by a picture perfect straight right that sends Slayer to the canvas, out cold! What a finish by Lemos!
