Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Pebble Braithweight! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Yoshi Suzuki! The judges for this bout are James Glass, Daniel Bishop and Donald Grub.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Suzuki shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Suzuki. Braithweight feints and as Suzuki raises his hands in defense, Braithweight changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Suzuki looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Suzuki keeping full guard, as Braithweight tries to pass. Suzuki is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Braithweight looking to pass the guard. Braithweight is looking to work some ground and pound but Suzuki has wrist control. Braithweight stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Suzuki swivels though and keeps the full guard. Suzuki seems keen to control Braithweight's posture. Braithweight drops back looking for a leg! Suzuki is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Suzuki manages to kick Braithweight off! Braithweight jumps back into Suzuki's guard. Braithweight avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Braithweight wants to pass the guard but Suzuki is keeping the position. Suzuki escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Braithweight gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Suzuki keeping full guard, as Braithweight tries to pass. Braithweight thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Braithweight is breathing heavily. Suzuki lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Braithweight! Suzuki pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Suzuki has control of Braithweight's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Braithweight regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Suzuki with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Suzuki looking to secure an arm triangle but Braithweight defends it well. Suzuki tries to control but Braithweight wriggling away. Braithweight can't escape the position.

Braithweight tries to bench press Suzuki off him but Suzuki keeps the position. Suzuki tries for a kimura but Braithweight is defending well. Suzuki is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Braithweight knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Suzuki is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Braithweight is trying to get back to half guard. Suzuki tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Suzuki tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Still in half guard, Suzuki seems content to control. Suzuki is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
