Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Roman Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mario Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Roman Davis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Mario Rua! The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Colin Fotheringham and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Davis throws a series of punches but Rua avoids them all with ease. Rua throws a sloppy head kick and Davis moves out of range easily. Davis shoots in and drives through. Rua sprawls well. Rua throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Davis throws a head kick that misses. Rua throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Rua misses with a combination
and Davis counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Rua trying to control here.
Rua is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Davis's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Davis's back! The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Rua trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Davis is trying to break free.
A lull in the action here.
Rua not allowing Davis to control his hands. Davis trying to survive by controlling the hands. Rua is looking to control Davis but Davis is wriggling around and keeping busy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Rua is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish. Rua is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Davis defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rua tries to keep control of the position but Davis is staying busy. You can see the frustration on Davis's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Rua controls the action.
Despite being in the dominant position, Mario Rua just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Davis throws a sloppy head kick and Rua counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. A big left from Davis misses. Rua closes the distance and lands a one-two. Rua slaps away a takedown attempt from Davis, before circling back to the center of the mat. Rua throws a right and a left that Davis avoids nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Davis throws a sloppy body shot
and Rua connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Davis is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Rua.
It looks like Roman Davis has been cut. Davis showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Rua.
Davis shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Davis was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rua is wriggling around trying to escape.
Davis controlling his opponent. Rua tries to improve his position but instead Davis has taken his back! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mario Rua dominated that round. The cut man is working on Roman Davis's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Davis misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Roman Davis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Rua gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Davis to score an easy takedown into full guard. Rua keeping moving, preventing Davis from controlling successfully. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Rua looking for a sweep. Not yet Rua, not yet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Davis is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Rua is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Rua has escaped and now he's on top! Rua pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Davis is keeping the position for now. Davis looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Davis can't keep his opponent in guard - Rua advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Rua keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Rua wants to lay and pray for a moment but Davis keeps working. Davis trying to control here.
Rua looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Davis wants to get back to full guard. Davis wants to control but Rua is keeping busy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Davis is looking to improve his position.
Rua moves into full mount! Davis won't be happy about that! Davis wants to control but Rua is having none of it. Davis tries to reverse the position but Rua maintains control. Rua wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it. Rua controlling from mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Davis tries to get back to half guard but can't. Davis is working hard here to advance position. Davis is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Rua trying to control but he's not successful this time. Rua takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mario Rua showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Roman Davis's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Rua fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Davis looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Rua throws a right hand that Davis ducks under and follows up with a left that Davis also avoids with ease. Davis misses with a jab, cross combination.
Davis will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Davis changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rua looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Rua can't do much from the bottom here. Davis wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Rua, who protects the arm well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rua is looking for a sweep. Rua can't do much from the bottom here. Davis working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Davis is staying tight to Rua's torso, preventing him from escaping. Davis is looking to take a break and control but Rua is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Roman Davis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Davis is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Rua is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Davis on the wrong end of a nice hook. Rua lands a head shot. Rua throws a sloppy body shot
and Rua takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Davis with a poor takedown and Rua counters with an outside leg kick.
Rua throws a head kick that Davis semi-blocks.
Mario Rua is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Davis changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rua tries to avoid it but Davis manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rua to the ground. Rua escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Roman Davis. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rua moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Rua connects with a looping right hand.
Nice shot lands for Rua. Rua's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Rua duly obliges.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Davis looks for a takedown but Rua sprawls well. Davis looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Rua is trying to stand.
Rua is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Rua is looking to improve his position.
And that's the end of the fight! Mario Rua comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Rua winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
