Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Eddie Diaz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Bacardi Breezer! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, William Gold and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diaz has managed to clinch.
Breezer throws an elbow but it misses.
Diaz stalling in the clinch but Breezer improves position. Diaz fails to pull guard.
Breezer drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Diaz gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Diaz can't get the takedown.
Breezer looking to stall.
Breezer throws an elbow but it's blocked.
With the fighters up against the ropes, Breezer throws an elbow but misses. Breezer lands a nice elbow. Breezer drags the fight down to the ground.
Diaz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Breezer swivels though and keeps the full guard. Diaz is working hard here to advance position. Diaz connects with a couple of short punches. Diaz wants to control from the top but Breezer keeps moving. Diaz tries to free his leg and advance position but Breezer is retaining full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Breezer is pulling down on Diaz's head. It's preventing any offense from Diaz, at least for the moment. Diaz won't allow Breezer to sweep him here. Diaz trying to control but Breezer is working from the bottom. Diaz wants to stand but Breezer is controlling his posture from full guard. Breezer manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Diaz wants to hold on but Breezer pushes him away. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Breezer thowing shots but they're missing. Diaz is trying desperately to improve position. Breezer is landing with some decent strikes but Diaz is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Diaz is rocked! Breezer wants to finish this one by submission but Diaz is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Breezer. Oh Diaz is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz tries to reverse the position but Breezer maintains control. Breezer can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Diaz is looking to escape. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Breezer goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Diaz turns into him and now he's in Breezer's guard.
Breezer looks gassed! Diaz trying to control but Breezer is working from the bottom. Diaz seems to have got his legs back now. Diaz throws a big right hand that misses. Diaz avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Breezer can't keep his opponent in guard - Diaz advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Diaz trying to control from half guard but Breezer is working away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diaz is looking for a kimura here.
Breezer is trying to stand back up but Diaz is controlling him
Diaz is looking to advance position but Breezer won't allow it. Breezer gets full guard. Breezer working for a triangle but Diaz defends it easily.
Diaz pushes down on Breezer's leg and manages to get into half guard. Breezer tries to roll over but Diaz keeps him under control. Diaz is thwarting Breezer's attempts to control the position. Diaz is keen to just control but Breezer is a slippery customer.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Diaz prevents Breezer from improving his position. Breezer is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Diaz seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Diaz has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Breezer defend it? Diaz steps over the head and cranks it - Breezer is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Diaz!
