Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Toby Bryant!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Schitta!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Schitta is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Bryant's half guard.
Schitta is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Bryant looking to control.

Bryant is working an open guard so Schitta takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Bryant leaves Schitta with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Bryant connects with a high kick.
Schitta throws a right and a left that both miss.
Bryant gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Schitta counters with a single leg into guard. Bryant didn't expect that.

Bryant is trying to keep Schitta in close.

Bryant wants to stand up but Schitta is controlling him.

Bryant is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Schitta is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Schitta must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Bryant looks to land a body kick but Schitta moved away.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

and Schitta counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Bryant stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bryant wants it to stay on the feet.

Schitta is looking to work some ground and pound but Bryant has wrist control.

Bryant can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Schitta controls the pace.

Schitta jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Bryant walks away with a smile on his face. Schitta gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Let's hope that Schitta has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Bryant tries to clinch

and Schitta counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Schitta is in close to Bryant's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Bryant looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Schitta puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Schitta prevents Bryant from standing back up.

Schitta is working for an americana but Bryant has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Schitta was thinking about the submission.

Bryant throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Schitta escapes and throws Bryant's legs to the side, diving into side control!
John Schitta has got the better of the ground game so far.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Bryant wants to control but Schitta postures up.

Schitta stands up and beckons Bryant to his feet.

Schitta wants to free his trapped foot but Bryant is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Schitta is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Schitta wants to pass the guard but Bryant is defending well.

Schitta wants to work for an arm triangle but Bryant is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Schitta wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bryant keeps working.

Schitta is taking a breather. Bryant says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Schitta takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Bryant leaves Schitta with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Bryant is trying to break the clinch but Schitta has him pressed against the cage.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Bryant bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Schitta's guard.
Schitta wants to get back to his feet but Bryant passes into half guard.
Bryant is thwarting Schitta's attempts to control the position.
Schitta works his way to full guard. Good work.

Bryant is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Schitta is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Schitta has escaped and now he's on top!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Schitta tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bryant swivels and escapes.

Schitta should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
