Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Brian Cushing!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Forrest Ortiz!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Paul Aken and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ortiz throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Ortiz listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
It looks like Brian Cushing has been cut.
Ortiz throws a jab when Cushing was well out of range.
A telegraphed right hand from Cushing misses the target.
Cushing uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Ortiz.
Cushing displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Ortiz throws out the jab.
Ortiz lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Ortiz throws a series of punches but Cushing moves out of range.
Forrest Ortiz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ortiz thows a left - swing and a miss!
Cushing misses with a takedown attempt - Ortiz sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Cushing looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Cushing swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Ortiz counters with a right hand to the body.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Ortiz - that will leave a mark!
Ortiz connects with a looping right hand.
Cushing tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ortiz feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Cushing sprawling to the canvas! Cushing rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Ortiz finish him?!
Cushing is rocked!
A good leg kick by Ortiz.
Oh Cushing is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Cushing is breathing heavily.
Ortiz throws a nasty head kick that just misses. He throws another kick to the head of his opponent and almost takes it off! Cushing crumples to the floor and the fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Forrest Ortiz!
