PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mark Randall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gyorgy Lipin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mark Randall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Gyorgy Lipin!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Richard Clark and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lipin displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Randall.
Lipin tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Randall was well out of range. Poor timing from Lipin.
Lipin misses with a wild body shot.
Randall closes the distance and clinches up with Lipin, looking for a takedown. Randall pushes Lipin against the cage but Lipin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Gyorgy Lipin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Randall gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Lipin lands a right hand that snaps the head of Randall backwards.
A frustrated look appears on Randall's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Lipin drops down looking for an ankle pick but Randall pulls his leg out and moves away.
Lipin moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Randall throws an overhand right that lands on Lipin's shoulder, as Lipin tries to avoid the shot.
Horrible takedown by Randall or perhaps it was just good defense by Lipin which made him look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Randall. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lipin loads up on a big right hand but Randall slips the punch.
Lipin throws a hook to the side of Randall's head but Randall sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Randall staying out of range there.

Randall feints and as Lipin raises his hands in defense, Randall changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Randall trying to control the position from guard on top but Lipin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Lipin lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Randall!
Randall really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
A nice elbow there by Lipin.
Randall is in a horrible position here. Lipin smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Lipin landing strikes from the mount and Randall is in trouble!

Lipin lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Lipin breaks from Randall's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Lipin with a couple of short strikes.
Randall is breathing heavily.
Randall can't escape the position.
Lipin lands a big shot there that rocks Randall but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Randall working to try and regain half guard.
Lipin pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Lipin cracks Randall with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Randall taking shots to the head.
The referee warns Randall that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Lipin lands a big shot there that rocks Randall but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Randall bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Lipin bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Randall's guard.
Lipin is looking to stand up but Randall won't let him.
Randall can't keep his opponent in guard - Lipin advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Lipin lands with a punch from half guard.
Lipin throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Lipin is pressing down on Randall's thigh, looking to free his foot. Randall is holding on for now.
Randall moves into full guard.
Lipin being controlled here momentarily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lipin with a flurry of punches that miss.
Lipin throwing strikes but missing.

Randall pushes Lipin off and scrambles back to his feet.
Randall ducks under a wild hook from Lipin.
Randall lands a front kick.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Randall moves out of range as Lipin strikes.
Lipin avoids the head kick by Randall.
Randall walks into a stiff left hand from Lipin.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gyorgy Lipin dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Randall fails with a takedown attempt.
Randall fails with an attempt to clinch.
The crowd cheers as Lipin lands an impressive looking overhand right. Randall doesn't seem phased though.
Lipin throws the left hand but Randall avoids the punch easily.
Lipin cracks Randall with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Randall shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lipin as he avoids it easily.
Randall drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Randall tries to move into range but Lipin moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Lipin lands a two punch combo.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Randall tries to clinch up but Lipin circles away and keeps his distance.
Lipin connects with a body shot.
Lipin misses with a straight right.
Lipin might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Lipin takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Lipin throws a series of punches but Randall avoids them all with ease.
Randall takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Nice uppercut lands for Lipin. That snapped Randall's head back.

Lipin misses with a two punch combination.
Randall slips under a jab.
Randall looks for a takedown but Lipin sprawls well.

Lipin throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
A lazy left from Lipin finds it's target.
Randall wants to clinch.
Randall slips under a jab from Lipin.

Randall ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Gyorgy Lipin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Lipin throws a hook but Randall avoids it easily.
Lipin looks to throw the jab but Randall is out of range.
Randall shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Lipin defends it nicely.
Lipin misses with an uppercut.
Lipin scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Randall swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Randall shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Lipin's guard.
Randall wants to control from the top but Lipin keeps moving.

Randall is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Lipin is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Randall wants to get up but he can't break Lipin's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Lipin has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Lipin looking for a guillotine here but Randall defends easily.
Randall throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lipin works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gyorgy Lipin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Lipin lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Randall circles away quickly and effectively.
Randall closes the distance and clinches up with Lipin, looking for a takedown. Randall pushes Lipin against the cage but Lipin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Lipin looks to land a combination but Randall avoids it well.
Lipin scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Lipin throws a right and a left that Randall avoids nicely.
Randall is trying hard to land a takedown here. Lipin sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Randall shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Lipin pinned against the cage. Lipin gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Randall. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Randall slips a jab and a cross from Lipin.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Randall takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Nice straight punches there by Lipin. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Lipin.
Randall bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Lipin stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lipin wants it to stay on the feet.
Lipin keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Randall looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Randall is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Lipin fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Randall takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Lipin lands a jab to the head.
Lipin swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Lipin has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Lipin lands an overhand right.
Lipin connects with a right hand. Randall shakes it off.
Gyorgy Lipin seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Randall takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Randall takes a jab right on the kisser.
Randall throws a combination that misses
and Lipin counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Lipin jabbing away but nothing is landing.
The fighters circle momentarily. Lipin darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Lipin misses with a straight left.
A decent looking cross lands there for Lipin.

Randall has his takedown stuffed
enabling Lipin to counter with a crisp jab.
Randall takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Lipin throws a good cross that connects.
Randall takes one to the side of the head.
Lipin bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Randall's head.

Lipin avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Randall with a poor takedown
and Lipin connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Lipin connects with a single shot there.
Lipin scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Lipin lands with a hook. Randall tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Randall looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Lipin lands a jab to Randall's midsection.
Lipin paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Lipin connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Lipin thows a left - swing and a miss!
Randall takes a jab right on the kisser.

Randall decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Randall throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Randall trying to control from Lipin's half guard. Lipin has other ideas though and has regained full guard.

Lipin is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Randall looking to pass the guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Randall drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Lipin dives on top into guard.
Mark Randall has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Gyorgy Lipin is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Lipin is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Gyorgy Lipin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Lipin winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
