The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barrett wants to clinch up but Michaels keeps it at a distance.
Michaels moves out of range of the strikes.

Michaels changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Barrett looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Michaels is looking to take a break and control but Barrett is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Barrett wants to control but Michaels postures up.
Barrett really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Michaels. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Michaels lands an elbow.
Barrett is not content to let Michaels control the position.

Michaels wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Barrett, who protects the arm well.
Barrett tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Michaels presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Michaels working for a submission but Barrett is keeping him at bay.

Michaels is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Barrett can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Barrett is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Michaels wants to control the pace but Barrett is squirming around nicely.

Michaels with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Barrett can't escape the position.

Michaels is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Michaels extends the arm and Barrett is forced to tap!
