Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alistair Rutten! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Oliver Ritter! The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Aafke Stam and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ritter misses with a low kick.
Rutten throws a hook to the side of Ritter's head but Ritter sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Rutten closes the distance and clinches up with Ritter, looking for a takedown. Rutten pushes Ritter against the cage but Ritter circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Rutten throws a leg kick which misses Ritter's front leg but catches the back leg as Ritter tries to avoid it. Rutten lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Rutten thows a body shot but no joy. Alistair Rutten seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rutten wants to clinch. Rutten bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Ritter's head backwards. Ritter swinging wildly here.
Ritter tries to move into range but Rutten moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Rutten punishes Ritter's body with a nice straight punch. Rutten scores with a body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rutten throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Ritter sees it coming and avoids it easily. Rutten moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Ritter shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Rutten counters with a left to the body. Ritter looks gassed! Rutten works Ritter's body with a nice hook. Ritter ducks right into an uppercut from Rutten. Ritter takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Rutten lands with a good body shot. Ritter takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Rutten scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Rutten connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Rutten scores with a nice strike.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rutten darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Rutten connects with the punch. Ritter takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
A chopping leg kick lands by Rutten. Rutten lands a nice leg kick that just misses Ritter's sensitive parts. Rutten connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Rutten decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Rutten works his foot free and advances to mount. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ritter can do anything to dispel that myth. Ritter tries to get back to half guard but can't. Rutten controlling from mount. Rutten connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rutten lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Rutten in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Rutten controlling his opponent. Rutten is in the full mount, landing strikes. The referee warns Ritter that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Rutten breaks from Ritter's wrist control and lands an elbow. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ritter wants to hold on but Rutten pushes him away. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Rutten lands a big elbow. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Rutten putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Rutten trying to control but he's not successful this time. Rutten prevents Ritter from getting the reversal. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters circling - Rutten throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Rutten pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ritter misses with a leg kick and Rutten counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Rutten throws a low kick, looking for Ritter's leg but Ritter calmly moves out of range. A big right from Rutten misses. Rutten throws a nice inside leg kick. Rutten uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. A big right from Rutten misses. Rutten misses with a hook. Ritter on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

Rutten misses with a straight left. Rutten lands a nice hook to Ritter's body. Ritter takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Ritter circles away from the clinch attempt.
Rutten throws a leg kick which misses Ritter's front leg but catches the back leg as Ritter tries to avoid it. Ritter is breathing heavily. Rutten scores with a jab. Ritter acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Rutten works Ritter's body with a nice hook. Rutten misses the shot to the body. Rutten fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Alistair Rutten is winning the standup battle so far. Rutten scores with a hook to the body. Ritter takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Rutten scores with a one two! Ritter had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ritter gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Rutten fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Ritter on the side of the head. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Ritter fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Rutten sprawls well initially but Ritter persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Rutten is trying to maintain the position but Ritter is very close to passing his half guard. Rutten keeping hold of Ritter's head, controlling as best he can. Ritter takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Rutten makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Rutten.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rutten controlling the position. Rutten keeping moving, preventing Ritter from controlling successfully. Rutten is trying to control the position but Ritter postures up. Rutten is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ritter can do to turn this around? Ritter sitting in guard here, content to control. Rutten managing to control the position. Ritter looking to pass the guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Ritter trying to control the position from guard on top but Rutten is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Rutten is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Ritter is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Rutten keeping moving, preventing Ritter from controlling successfully. Ritter stopping the sweep attempt from Rutten. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alistair Rutten dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Ritter drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Ritter must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Ritter postures up in Rutten's guard and throws a big left but Rutten blocks it. Ritter trying to control but Rutten is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rutten being controlled here, momentarily. Ritter wants to control from the top but Rutten keeps moving. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Ritter controlling from the top position.

Despite being in the dominant position, Oliver Ritter just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Rutten lands with a nice body punch. Ritter walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Good leg kick by Rutten there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Ritter staying out of range there. Ritter takes one on the button. Ritter misses with a takedown attempt and Rutten counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Rutten lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Rutten connects with a nice looking jab.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rutten is looking to slow Ritter down with leg kicks. Ritter takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Ritter on the wrong end of a nice hook. Rutten lands a jab. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Rutten lands a glancing blow to the side of Ritter's head. Ritter shoots and misses and Rutten counters with a lovely shot to the body. A chopping leg kick lands by Rutten. Rutten thows a body shot but no joy. Alistair Rutten is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Nice shot by Rutten. Ritter takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Ritter drops his hands momentarily and Rutten takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rutten lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Ritter at a distance.
Rutten scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Rutten passes into side control, despite Ritter's attempt to control the position.
The referee asks Rutten politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Rutten prefers to stall for the moment though. Rutten has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Rutten scoring with punches and elbows. Rutten trying to control the position but Ritter is working away. Ritter seems a little lost for a moment, as Rutten dominates the positioning. Rutten wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ritter keeps working. Alistair Rutten overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Ritter manages to work his way to half guard, despite Rutten's best efforts.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rutten is trying to control the action in half guard but Ritter is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Ritter desperately trying to maintain half guard. Let's hope that Ritter has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Rutten's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Rutten trying to pass the guard but Ritter defending well. Ritter wants to improve his position but Rutten is controlling well.
And that's the end of the fight! Alistair Rutten showed his dominance in that final round. Well Rutten has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
