PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Roberto Zaginho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack O Lantern (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). O Lantern has chosen Love the Way You Lie as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roberto Zaginho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack O Lantern!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Wesley Smith and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

O Lantern closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

O Lantern is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Zaginho has managed to free his arm - good work.
O Lantern wants to control but Zaginho is keeping him busy.

Zaginho looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
O Lantern thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Zaginho's head.
O Lantern is trying to control. Zaginho wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Zaginho actively working from the bottom here.

Zaginho wants to get back to full guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

O Lantern throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Zaginho was covering up waiting for the punch and O Lantern finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Zaginho had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. O Lantern defends it easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Zaginho is breathing heavily.
O Lantern content to stall in guard here.
Zaginho can't keep his opponent in guard - O Lantern advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
O Lantern really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Zaginho. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
O Lantern lands with a punch from half guard.
O Lantern winds up and cracks Zaginho with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. O Lantern lands a nice short elbow.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
O Lantern trying to control from half guard but Zaginho is working away.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Zaginho on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

O Lantern takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
O Lantern wants to control but Zaginho is keeping him busy.

Zaginho is staying active underneath O Lantern, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Zaginho actively working from the bottom here.
O Lantern controlling the pace.
O Lantern trying to control from half guard but Zaginho is working away.
O Lantern drops an elbow to the side of Zaginho's head.

O Lantern is controlling the pace.
O Lantern wants to lay and pray for a moment but Zaginho keeps working.

Despite being in the dominant position, Jack O Lantern just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Zaginho gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and O Lantern counters with a nice double leg into side control. Zaginho won't be happy with that.
Zaginho tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but O Lantern wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
O Lantern lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

O Lantern stands up.

Zaginho gets caught flat footed, as O Lantern shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Zaginho working for a triangle but O Lantern defends it easily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
O Lantern stands and throws Zaginho's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Zaginho prevents O Lantern from moving into mount.

O Lantern is trying to get an arm triangle but Zaginho is defending well.
Zaginho is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked O Lantern off and has taken his back!
O Lantern is really stuck here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Zaginho has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. O Lantern is defending well but eventually Zaginho manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! O Lantern has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!
