Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Leonardo Gomes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fat Hoos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Leonardo Gomes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Fat Hoos!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Alyssa Summers and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hoos scores a takedown into full mount!

Hoos goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Gomes is on top in guard.
Hoos is pulling down on Gomes's head. It's preventing any offense from Gomes, at least for the moment.
Gomes is looking to stand up but Hoos won't let him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gomes postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Hoos is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Gomes, into his guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hoos trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Hoos trying to control the position from guard on top but Gomes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hoos pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gomes is keeping the position for now.
Hoos with a flurry of punches that miss.

Hoos got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gomes has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hoos has managed to get both his arms back between Gomes's legs - danger averted.
Hoos throws and elbow that misses. Gomes uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Hoos's guard. Nice move by Gomes!

Hoos has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gomes can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hoos pulls Gomes in close to his closed guard and prevents Gomes from doing any damage or advancing position.
Hoos tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Gomes drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Hoos dives on top into guard.
Hoos is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hoos passes Gomes's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Hoos wants to take a breather but Gomes is having none of it.
Hoos not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Hoos takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Hoos thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Gomes looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Gomes is breathing heavily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gomes is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Hoos scores with a couple of nice shots.
Ground and pound from Hoos.
Hoos content to control rather than advance.
Hoos passes the guard and advances to mount!
Hoos cracks Gomes with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Hoos landing strikes from the mount and Gomes is in trouble!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fat Hoos dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Hoos drives through and clinches with Gomes against the cage.
Hoos drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Gomes gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Hoos is trying to drag Gomes to the mat but Gomes just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Gomes is working for takedown but Hoos is calmly controlling the position for now.

Hoos breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Gomes misses with a takedown

and Hoos counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Hoos wants to pass the guard but Gomes is keeping the position.
Gomes can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hoos controls the pace.
Hoos pushing down on Gomes's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hoos takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Hoos trying to control the action but Gomes is working from the bottom.
Hoos is stalling here. Gomes is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Hoos seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Gomes has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Hoos is trying to buck Gomes off.
Gomes fails to land a wild elbow strike.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hoos looking for a sweep but Gomes has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Gomes lands a nice shot to the head.
Gomes lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Hoos is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Gomes working for a guillotine from mount but Hoos is in no mood to give up.
Hoos can't escape the position.

Gomes is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Hoos to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Hoos shrugs it off.
Hoos is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Gomes goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Hoos turns into him and now he's in Gomes's guard.
Hoos controlling from the top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fat Hoos showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Hoos feints and as Gomes raises his hands in defense, Hoos changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Hoos slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Despite being in the dominant position, Fat Hoos just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Gomes tries to clinch up

and Hoos counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Hoos working over Gomes with some ground and pound. Gomes looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Gomes regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Hoos.
Hoos wants to pass the guard but Gomes is keeping the position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Hoos slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Fat Hoos has got the better of the ground game so far.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hoos trying to control the position from guard on top but Gomes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hoos's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Hoos scoring with punches to the head and body.
Hoos must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Gomes keeping moving, preventing Hoos from controlling successfully.
Hoos trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Hoos wants to control from the top but Gomes keeps moving.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Gomes shoots and misses

and Hoos counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Gomes's guard now.
Hoos looking to sit in guard and control but Gomes gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Gomes won't allow Hoos to sweep him here.
Gomes keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Hoos's head.
Hoos looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Gomes thows a big elbow that misses.
Hoos managing to control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hoos wants to sweep here but Gomes controlling him for the moment.
Gomes loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

And that's the end of the fight!
Fat Hoos comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hoos has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3 rounds of action, we go to the scorecards for a decision.
